Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher star as strangers who wake up a married couple after a crazy night in Las Vegas in director Tom Vaughn's (STARTER FOR 10) feature film. Joy (Diaz) is the type of woman who makes plans to make plans. She's expecting a marriage proposal, but her live-in boyfriend, Mason (Jason Sudeikis), has other ideas. When he dumps her, Joy heads to Vegas to forget her troubles with her friend Tipper (Lake Bell) and discovers her fun, spontaneous side. Unfortunately, she also wakes up with recently unemployed Jack (Kutcher) as her husband. The two quickly decide to divorce, but the plot thickens when Jack wins a $3 million slot jackpot using Joy's quarter. Since neither one of them wants to give up the cash, they each try to drive the other to file for divorce and give up the bounty. But love has a funny way of appearing when you least expect it, and in acting their worst, Joy and Jack actually bring out the best in each other. Diaz and Kutcher have nice onscreen chemistry and make a very photogenic couple. Treat Williams stars as Jack's difficult-to-please father, while Rob Corddry is Jack's best friend, Hater. Queen Latifah and Dennis Miller appear briefly as a marriage counselor and divorce court judge, respectively. The Vegas scenes are flashy and fun--just like Sin City--and the settings for the New York City scenes differentiate nicely between Joy's organized, structured life and Jack's less serious, happy-go-luc ... Screwball comedy meets film noir in the lighthearted movie WATCHING THE DETECTIVES. Cillian Murphy forgoes the menace of past roles in RED EYE and BATMAN BEGINS to play film buff Neil. He's so busy watching and quoting movies that life is passing him by. Enter Violet (Lucy Liu, KILL BILL VOL. 1), a free-spirited beauty who doesn't even own a TV. Opposites (inevitably) attract, and soon Neil's life is thrown into fun-filled chaos. Violet believes in living life, not watching others do so, and her energetic approach has an effect on Neil. First-time director Paul Soter (of Broken Lizard comedy troupe fame) helms this film that's a love letter to cinema's past. Violet is a modern-day femme fatale to Neil's naïve sap. His movie geek status gives the film license to reference everything from the strange (TOXIC AVENGER IV: CITIZEN TOXIE) to the classic (BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID). Despite its good intentions, insider references, and strong cast, WATCHING THE DETECTIVES can't quite reach the heights of the essential films it puts on a pedestal. But with its lighthearted feel, it's not really about that. The best moments in WATCHING THE DETECTIVES come when Neil indulges the cinephile within, especially when he's joined by partners-in-crime played by Jason Sudeikis and Michael Panes. "Saturday Night Live" has jumped into the webisode mix with "The Line" -- a comedy about geeks camping outside a movie theater to see the latest installment of "FutureSpace." The show stars "SNL" cast members Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis along with Joe Lo Truglio from " The State " and "Superbad" -- and was directed by "SNL's" Seth Meyers. Nerd-waiting-in-line comedy can never be done as well as Triumph did it way back in 2002 for the "Attack of the Clones" premiere, but this show finds its own stride by creating an amusing cast of characters and some clever story elements. Much of the tension in "The Line" is supplied by "the five-minute rule" -- according to a geek decree, you lose your place in line if you take a second more than five. This makes it awkward for Hader's character to be broken up with by his girlfriend or for Lo Truglio to spend a Sunday with his young son (they have to run to the basketball court, shoot one hoop, and then run back). Also, there's a great cameo by comedian Paul Scheer as The Spoiler -- the mean nerd who revels in dropping details he's gathered about the movie these fanboys are waiting to see. The show, thought up by Hader and "SNL" writer Simon Rich while they were on the writers strike picket line, was produced by Broadway Video Entertainment, the production company of "SNL" kingpin Lorne Michaels. I know that Mr. Johnson has many other fine acting credits to his name, but I grew up in the '80s, what can you expect? But, it's not all white suit jackets and '71 Plymouth Barracuda's for Johnson any more. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the man will be getting back into the feature film game to star in Disney's romantic comedy When in Rome , and the indie feature, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy . Rome stars Kristen Bell (TV's Veronica Mars ) as a young American gal "who steals coins from an Italian fountain and finds herself receiving visits from numerous strangers who, having previously thrown coins into the fountain, are now in love with her." Johnson was offered the role by writer-director Mark Steven Johnson (no relation) to play Bell's dad, after a previous project between the two had fallen through. Then it's off to work on Orgy where Johnson will fill in as SNL 's Jason Sudeikis ' dad (I guess Johnson has finally reached the stage in his career where he is no longer the 'be-stubbled heartthrob' and more of a father figure). Rainn Wilson , best known as the insane weirdo Dwight from The Office , gets to have a change of pace in sometimes crazy, sometimes touching comedy The Rocker , from The Full Monty director Peter Cattaneo . He's playing Fish, a drummer who was kicked out of his band Vesuvius right before they hit it big, a la Pete Best of the Beatles, and has never gotten over the betrayal. In fact, as he schleps through horrible day jobs, he still fantasizes about hunting his former bandmates down like animals 20 years later. Then, Fish gets his second chance at stardom when he joins his nephew's ( Josh Gad ) high school band ADD and inadvertently becomes an internet sensation. However, trying to live his old dreams of rock stardom isn't quite all it's cracked up to be. The Rocker also features Emma Stone as the bass player quietly infatuated with lead singer/songwriter Curtis ( Teddy Geiger ), Will Arnett and Fred Armisen as Fish's sworn enemies in Vesuvius and SNL's Jason Sudeikis as the band's completely sleazy manager.
