Filed under: Drama , Independent , Movie Marketing , Politics , War , Trailers and Clips Starring the brilliant combination of Viggo Mortensen and Jason Isaacs , Good is in danger of becoming one of those "What the heck ever happened to " films that's been in limbo for too long. Though it's fate is still in doubt (I think it's heading to TIFF 2008), at least we now have a trailer via JoBlo . It has been floating around the Internet for weeks, but never in a working embed -- let's all thank JoBlo for pinning it down. Based on CP Taylor's play, the story follows John Halder, a literary professor in 1930's Germany, who's book on compassionate euthanasia draws some interest from the new Nazi government. Halder's professional and political career rises, and he continues to make more moral compromises -- much to the dismay of his Jewish friend, Maurice, who suffers at the hands of the regime. It's been a pet project for Isaacs for a few years, and saw numerous actors come and go from the part of Halder. Thankfully, the always-perfect Mortensen stuck. There is an autographed photo of Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) posted on Ebay by a group of his fans. The picture was taken during the filming of his mini-series, The State Within . The funds from the winning bid will go to Oxfam America , a charitable organization Mr. Isaacs has supported by doing a voice-over ad recently for its efforts to collect funds to build a well with clean water for villages in East Africa. La dirección ha corrido a cargo del realizador Antonio del Real , que apostó por llevar a cabo esta adaptación ambientada en la corte de Felipe II, con un amplio reparto internacional : Jason Isaacs, Julia Ormond, Jürgen Prochnow, Jordi Mollá, Joaquim de Almeida, Fabio Testi, Juanjo Puigcorbé, Blanca Jara,... ‘La Conjura de El Escorial’ es un thriller histórico repleto de intrigas políticas y policíacas, que se centra en un hecho histórico como es la traición de la Princesa de Éboli al rey Felipe II y las luchas de poder en su corte. No se puede negar que se ha puesto mucho empeño, viendo el trailer, en que esta película no sea tachada del habitual (y tedioso) cine español de género histórico, y resulta una interesante opción, no sólo por el casting internacional (que lo es y bastante), sino porque quién mejor que nosotros para retratar un capítulo apasionante de nuestra propia historia.
