Jamie Lidell will be kicking off a brief North American tour at Austin City Limits on September 26th and continuing with dates through October. Lidell has been touring almost nonstop since the April release of Jim and he will be following these dates opening for Elton John in Europe. Jamie will be keeping his full band for all dates – including sax, guitar, drums, and keys. Anyone who has witnessed the band-backed live shows of late can attest to the additional layers they bring to Jamie’s already rowdy and mesmerizing performances. After the recent Lollapalooza set, Pitchfork asked, “Can somebody please make this man hugely famous, like, now?” ...

I was checking out the videos from last year's Pitchfork Fest (2007) and I saw a Jamie Lidell video. I heard of him, in a good way, but I didn't know what he sounded like. He seems pretty cool. He shows up with a tape deck and just starts laying down vocals like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Prince, and even Michael Jackson. It's like old school Motown meeting 80's funk. .....from this skinny white English guy who up until recently was just making weird electronic music. I don't think his fans saw it coming but I like picking up here. He's playing at Lollapalooza this Saturday (August 2nd 2008). I'll check it out. Before Lupe Fiasco, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and Rage Against The Machine. Not bad. Enjoy. ...
