Stephenie Meyer grew her books' readership with a constant, open, grateful and helpful online presence. Mania is almost too sedate a term to describe the ongoing frenzy surrounding "Twilight," Stephenie Meyer's mega-hit young adult series about a devastatingly handsome vampire and the plain-Jane human he wants to sink his teeth into. ...

I have had several contacts with live chat and still have not resolved the problem. I changed computers for the wireless router and that's when the problem started. The problem is that the wired router is sending the signal to the wireless router. The wireless computer sees the wireless card and is receiving the transmitted signal which is good at about 58 Kbps. The problem is that I can't get the computer to see the router.Have reset and restarted both computers several times with different names and numbers ( per live chat) and the problem persists. Any ideas?? Thanks! Not so techno ...

I'm not sure what has gone on...hope someone can help me. OS: Vista Home Premium Hardware: Siemens 4100 DSL modem, Linksys wireless router, Toshiba Satellite (can't remember the exact mode of those) Laptop locked up Sat night and I had to press/hold power to shutdown. Things went flakey from there - now when I try to do the Java Update I'm told that it cannot run because "the installer cannot proceed with the current Internet Connection Settings." I uninstalled (best as I can, that's also blowing up) the AT&T/Symantec Dashboard since it was outdated - when I go into the control panel to manually remove things, I get a message that the installer has stopped working and it stops the uninstall process. When I try to update my AVG virus definitions I'm told that the Connection with the server was reset and then I'm told that I'm not connected to the Internet - when I AM connected to the Internet! I'm about ready to chunk this thing through the window and scream! I've done an AVG scan with the out of date defs - seems to be clean, but I'm not sure how out of date the defs are. When I look at my Internet Connection settings - I see nothing. I don't want to mess with it because I'm an applications girl - I don't know hardware or networking! :) TIA for suggestions. ...

I moved to Bell Internet recently. I lived in Toronto. A few days ago, my Internet Connection was totally down for an extended period. I was told it was a server problem. After more than 24 hours and much frustration, I gave the Bell Internet Support another call. I was told to do the usual stuff: power off and on the modem, and, while my Internet was still down, I was told to uninstall the driver for my 'Intel PRO/100 VE'. Then, miraculously, I have my Internet back. When I tried to hibernate my computer a few days later, I've got an error message: "The device driver for the 'Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection - Radialpoint Miniport (x86)' device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation." My question: 1) what should I do now? 2) What is Radialpoint miniport (x86)? ...

Aah...it's so great to have unlimited Internet Connection at home. Now I don't have to be hurried everytime I am online ;) The speed is so so, but I think it's fair compared to the cheap price that I pay. Last night I was online until 1 am. I didn't realize time went by so fast ^^;; I was only browsing, no chatting. These days I don't feel like chatting anymore. Browsing is more fun. I get to know new things in this world. Right now I am looking for a website that provide Korean lesson. Why Korean? Me and my current passion for Korean is due to a korean drama I recently watched ^^;; Maybe if I found a great Japanese drama, I'll switch my passion to Japanese ^^;; *how undecisive* If you know a great site, kindly please let me know ^^ Ok, back to browsing :D ...

The list below shows the correlation between the speed (bandwidth) expressed in kilobits and speed in kilobytes: * 56 K = 7 kb / s * 128 K = 16 kb / s * 512 K = 64 kb / s * 1024 K = 128 kb / s * 2048 K = 256 kb / s byte is the translation of byte (but not a bit). 1 byte = 8 bits SO: * 56 Kilo-bit / s = 56 / 8 KB / s = 7 kb / s * 128 Kilo-bit / s = 128 / 8 KB / s = 16 kb / s * 512 Kilo-bit / s = 512 / 8 KB / s = 64 kb / s * 1024 Kilo-bit / s = 1024 / 8 KB / s = 128 kb / s * 2048 Kilo-bit / s = 2048 / 8 KB / s = 256 kb / s Remember that the speed issue varies from one ISP to another, and also an offer to another at the same ISP (for example if you are unbundled or not, etc.). *I have an ADSL xxxx, but when I download it's going slower than what it should, why?* The speed of a DSL line is the theoretical maximum throughput possible. If the server where you are downloading is able to send only 3 KB / sec, you receive 3 KB / second, even on an ADSL 8192. Your ISP is not in question. You should know that that during a download, data packets traveling from computer to computer server to your computer. This is the slowest computer in the chain which limits the flow. (A bit like a pipe whose diameter is not always the same: the smaller diameter that will determine the actual flow.) *The upload is too slow!* Example: I have an ADSL 8192, so in principle 1 MB per second. J'upload but when it does not exceed 64 kb / second. This is normal. ADSL = ...
