Hello everyone, My problem is that IWeb doesn't publish my site the way it is shown in IWeb. I made some modifications to my site in IWeb (put some picture frames on my site, lines) but when I publish to a folder and then to a different domain, my site won't look nothing at all with the one I have created in IWeb. I am using IWeb to create my company webpage and have just recently had a problem when updating. It is now asking users on Safari, IE, and Navigator for a username and password. I have not changed anything except my index page, as I was hacked into and a whole bunch of gibberish was posted on my home page. Solved the gibberish problem, but I'm much more concerned with the password interference. Any suggestions? I'm at a dead end. Not a programmer, so not into HTML and scripts. Thanks for any help. Today IWeb reached 1000 members. This is not a big number because the DotNetNuke project can grow by 1000 members in a single day. However, IWeb is just a small project that provides code to call web service methods inside DotNetNuke. It is not really designed for end-users. When a project with such a small user base reaches 1000 members it says a lot about the health and growth of the main DotNetNuke project. This milestone sticks out for me personally because IWeb started as a small idea. It has grown and taken a life of its own. Eventually it has grown bigger than me and taught me a lot about what Open Source is really about. Initially IWeb was just a code sample. Nearly two years ago, I needed to call a web service that was inside a DotNetNuke module. I found an article on wwwcoder.com. My example used the new (at the time) WSP dynamic compilation model so I decided to publish the code. After I published the code a lot of discussion with Shawn Mehaffie, Andrew Nurse, and Rutger Buijzen led to the creation of a method to secure the web service methods. IWeb allows you to secure each individual method by role and to optionally encrypt the transmission. Then I had what I thought was a brilliant idea. I could create a “mini-framework” that would allow developers to create web service methods and share them with other developers. This “bright idea” stands out because it was a total failure. Filed under: iLife , Software , Odds and ends , Freeware , Internet Tools Although I've written a book about IWeb, I often tell my clients to avoid using it for their websites if they're planning on hosting anywhere but on MobileMe. Why? When you post to MobileMe from IWeb, you "Publish" and your site is uploaded. Minor changes to a site only take a few seconds to upload, since IWeb uploads only the changed files to your web server. That doesn't happen when publishing to other servers. Instead, you publish to a local folder, and then usually upload the entire folder to your web server. That can take a long time with a large site. Plyxim's Easy IWeb Publisher 3.0.3 fixes that problem. The shareware ($7 donation requested) application makes it simple to publish to any web host. It's an ftp client that takes the local folder you've published your IWeb site to, compares it to the folder on your web server, and then uploads just the files that have changed. I've found that Easy IWeb Publisher works much faster than most dedicated ftp clients when syncing IWeb files that have been changed, added, or deleted. Until Apple fixes IWeb '08 to make publishing easier for people who don't use MobileMe, this is a great way to work with your own hosting. Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments ...
