I used to think “radio was just radio” until I heard about the ITunes Tagging-enabled HD Radio™ receiver. Once used, I doubt you’ll ever go back to regular radio again. Why? Because I get really tired to hearing great songs on the radio and not knowing the name of the song or the artist. Usually it’s my luck to tune in 3 seconds AFTER the DJ gives all the song info. But with the ITunes Tagging HD receiver, my “lost tunes” days are gone. Using these receivers, I can tag any song I hear on my local FM HD radio station by pushing a tag button; magically, all of the song’s info is saved to my iPod® so the next time I synch, the tagged songs are automatically loaded into ITunes, allowing me to buy and download any of them I want. I think the only thing I’m going to need after this is an iPOD with more memory! Of course the music is crystal clear digital, so listening is almost like a being-there-in-person experience. Plus, bunches of HD stations are adding HD2 and HD3 channels–all subscription-free. I predict more and more ITunes Tagging HD Radios will hit the scene soon. In case you’re having problems finding HD stations, whether rock or new country music stations you can find stations by clicking the link and searching by state. I've been using MAX to rip my CDs in ALAC on my Mac, and the ripper is great. The MusicBrainz Tagging component is not that great, I must say. New versions of the Eye-Fi hitting the market today. Now available in the original model (at $100) that allows online and local file uploads, the new versions are desktop upload only ($80) and a new model that will work with paid hotspots as well as do geo-Tagging as well (for $129). The original model looks like any 2gb SD card but has an integrated WiFi chip that lets just about any camera that uses SD cards to automatically upload pictures to your PC over WiFi, upload to online photo sites (or both). There's an even an option to allow content to flow directly into ITunes on a Mac. It's a neat tool that works well, especially for the online connection (a USB cable is going to work much faster to just transfer photos to a PC). Two issues are the fact that WiFi sucks a lot of battery life from your camera and it's an all or nothing proposition. You can't select which files to send over. Eye is capturing on several important trends. Today’s mobile consumer expects to be connected to the Web seamlessly and ubiquitously. As a result, there's an explosion of non-PC devices that allow people to connect to the Web in unique ways (Kindle is a good example.) The disconnected digital camera has prevented that seamless connection and Eye-Fi is ahead of the curve, allowing better ways for consumers to connect their cameras to the rest of the their online personas. What's missing? I'd like to see upload to several PCs at the sam ...

Looking for a good MP3 music manager is reoccurring task for me, because so far none has really convinced me, yet. After switching to a new distro recently, it was time to reevaluate the choices. Below is a list of library managers/players available through the Arch package manager. I installed them all, tried to import my music library 1) and tested a few common tasks. The list below is not an in depth feature comparison. It's just the features/non-features that caught my attention. All tested players have an ITunes-like artist/album/song browser. I was most interested in their last.fm integration but also had a look at other features. My album cover images are stored as a file named folder.jpg , so I checked if the tools would find and display that correctly. Amarok http://amarok.kde.org/ KDE based Most feature rich player Automatically rates songs based on your behavior Great context browser showing Wikipedia info, last.fm related songs and artists, additional albums by the same artist, lyrics… “smart” playlists Last.fm scrobbling, neighbor and tag radio, love/Tagging for radio only Radio station browser, podcast support Album cover support with cover manager to download from Amazon Plugin system with browser/downloader Customizable notification window Banshee http://banshee-project ...
