Uh-oh. New taxes could be coming your way in Wisconsin…including the dreaded IPod Tax. With the election less than two months away, the timing on this proposal is interesting. With the state Senate expected to stay in Democratic hands, and the Assembly believed by some to be up for grabs, the thinking is that [...] ...

Sylvie Barak the Inquirer , Saturday 27 September 2008. 10:37:00 To pay for Channel 4 BRITAIN’S BROADCASTING regulator and competition authority, Ofcom, says people could soon have to pay an "IPod Tax" to pay for crappy, yet expensive, programmes on ITV and Channel 4. The Tax wouldn’t just be restricted to Ipods and other MP3 players though.... ... Source: bensbargains.net --- 1 day ago

SanDisk launches new media format named slotMusic SanDisk has announced the launch of their new music format called “slotMusic”. It is basically a memory card (microSD) which is smaller than a postage stamp and comes loaded with music files in MP3 format. The company said that this format has been adopted by four major music companies – EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. They are now planning to make it available in stores with music from popular artists this coming holiday season. Best Buy and Wal-Mart have also given their approval to this media format. Daniel Schreiber, a senior vice president at SanDisk spoke about this concept: “Most non-IPod MP3 players already have card slots in them … and music-capable phones with card slots are selling at a rate of 750 million a year.” Checkout: slotMusic Tags: Best Buy , EMI , microSD , mp3 , SanDisk , slotMusic , Sony BMG , Universal Music Group , Wal-Mart , Warner Music Group Related posts Yahoo to sell advertising on Wal-Mart and CBS sites (0) Warner Music Group wants ISP Tax for music download (0) Wall Street Journal: AC/DC to launch new album through Wal-Mart (0) Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Apple having success with online shoppers (0) Wal-Mart’s John Walton dies in an aircraft crash (0) ... Every once in awhile, the opportunity arises to avoid something we all (or at least most of us) dislike; sales Tax. It makes me recall a story I heard from a very nice woman who waited in line for 4 hours one day to save about $6.00 on an mp3 player for her son. I remember first being amazed that someone would be willing to spend an additional 4 hours of their personal time to save $6.00, but then it occurred to me that it's not about the savings at all, but rather the principle. That maybe we're willing to go out of our way a little more than we usually would to avoid paying the government (legally, of course!) Well, it got me to thinking. What if we pay the sales Tax on your flooring purchase? The savings will be considerably more than it would be for an IPod or "Back to School" supplies, and perhaps more importantly, you won't have to go out of your way at all. There won't be 4 hour lines, fighting over the last of a particular item, outrageous crowds to contend with, etc. In fact, you're purchase won't take any longer than it normally would. You'll get the same pleasurable experience you would on any other day while still saving a bundle. So what's the catch? Only one: Some states don't allow it, but we have a plan for that! If you're in an exclusion area, we've arranged a special 18 Month No payment and No interest financing option. And if you are within an area that allows us to pay the Tax on your purchase, you'll have the optio ...

For quite awhile I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on a first generation iPhone and I finally found one. My buddy Cory originally bought an iPhone as soon as they were released in the US and had it imported. When the new iPhone 3G came out he jumped at the opportunity to get a new 16gb version, so I ended up being lucky enough to be able to buy it off him for about $150. Safe to say I was quite happy about that. I already owned an IPod Touch and found that I loved that device so much that I pretty much took it everywhere. I found that having a music player that was Wi-Fi enabled just became indispensable. The problem I had was now that I took my IPod everywhere, I no longer carried my Virgin phone with me, as there is really only so much real estate available in my pockets so something had to give. I'm a very light cell phone user(less then $10 a month with Pay As You Go), so it really became hard to justify carrying it with me. Now that I have an iPhone, I had to choose a carrier. Virgin uses Bell's CDMA network, so if I wanted to use the iPhone I had to switch to either Rogers or Fido's GSM network. Both offer Pay As You Go options. I found Fido did have better rates on month to month basis, but I discovered Rogers had a deal that worked perfectly for a light user like myself. If you purchase a $100(+Tax) top up card from a Rogers store the balance lasts for a whole year. That worked out to be even cheaper then what I was payin ... Source: www.gotapex.com --- 16 days ago

I've been reading all the rumors recently about the impending Macbook update and now its just around the corner I'm going to wait it out. But if the 14th is the day i want to go in there and know exactly what to purchase. My dad has a company credit card which means he gets the Vat or Tax off any purchase we make, and this is where it gets tricky. Should i buy the middle of the road Macbook which is about my budget limit without the Tax, or do i go for the base model and get all the accessories like Bose speakers, case, remote and IPod all excluding Tax. I'm going to be using the laptop primarily for school work as well as some gaming so i might not need the extra Hardrive space but would i need 2GB ram as it almost seems a necessity? Please help me out i've been thinking about this for ages ... Source: xpdig.com --- 10 days ago
