The IPhone is going to Russia: a few days ago, Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom announced it would be offering the Apple IPhone 3G for sale within Russia, and today Russian mobile operator MegaFon issued a one-line statement saying it would also be offering the IPhone during 2008. Neither company has offered any further details on their plans, including availability dates or pricing. Vimpelcom markets mobile handsets under the brand name Beeline, and is the second-largest mobile operator in Russia with operators in neighboring countries including the Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Armenia, and Turkmenistan. MegaFon is the third-largest mob Read | Permalink | Linking Blogs ...

IPhone App - Heart Monitor from John Ballinger on Vimeo . Everyone knows that the Apple IPhone just oozes with style, but how many of you actually use your IPhone to tune in to your heartbeat? That is now possible with a new application that relies on the IPhone's microphone, tuning in to one's heartbeat with the results being displayed in a manner that most, if not all people, will be impressed. Guess this is yet another reason to pick up an IPhone if you haven't done so already. Add a comment | From: Monitor Your Heart Rate In Style | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...

A federal judge has ruled that an antitrust suit against Apple and A&T over exclusivity Deals for the IPhone may move forward, Ars Technica reports. Apple and AT&T signed a five-year exclusive deal but only told consumers they would have to sign up for a two-year contract. That’s the main beef in the complaint. The [...] ...

Forbes notes that this exceeds the estimated number of Kindles sold for 2008 and likely makes the IPhone the biggest eBook reader on the market. To be fair Stanza is a free download, but the intent is still there. ---Quote--- Stanza, like Kindle, lets users download new content directly to their device. It has a snappy interface that allows readers to flip through a book simply by tapping the edges of the page and responds far faster than Kindle's poky E-ink screen, which takes about a second to turn pages. On the downside, the IPhone's LCD screen can strain eyes after hours of reading and chews through battery power far faster than Kindle or the Sony Reader, both of which can go without recharging for days. ---End Quote--- At the moment, however, all of the titles available to Stanza are public domain titles while the Kindle commands premium pay titles. Stanza's developer is working on Deals with major publishers to try to sell newer eBooks to its users. - ...

You can be sure that Nokia's 5800 XpressMusic handset won't be the first and only full touch screen handset, as evident by the image of yet another similar handset that boasts a touch screen QWERTY keyboard for you to punch in text messages and emails at lighting speed. This latest concept might see light in the new line of Nokia Communicators, although this remains to be seen. Hopefully the boys at Nokia Labs will be able to stumble upon a commercially viable solution in order to give the IPhone some sort of decent competition. Your long wait for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be over, and hopefully sooner rather than later, thanks to the handset making an appearance on the FCC. Too bad this version isn't the HSDPA 850/1900 MHz model, so hopefully Nokia will pass that model over to the FCC shortly thereafter. Are you willing to hold off all your future purchases until the 5800 XpressMusic hits the scene, or will your patience run out to cause you to pick up an IPhone 3G instead? Korean Telecom reported last week that the company has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Apple that will see WiBro connectivity (Korea's version of WiMAX) appear on both iPods and MacBooks. Could this also be an indicator that WiMAX on the IPhone is a very real possibility in the future? Since WiBro is an early version 802.16e standard, which is better known as Mobile WiMAX today, this means such networks and services are currently being deployed by Sprint and many other companies around the globe. That could very well point towards a WiMAX-enabled IPhone in the near future, starting with Korea. Add a comment | From: WiMAX IPhone In The Works? | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...

The IPhone and IPhone 3G might usher in an unmatched user experience, but it isn't perfect either, especially when it comes to landscape orientation in certain essential smartphone applications. Typing on a portrait QWERTY keyboard just doesn't quite cut it, and one is prone to make mistakes with huge digits. TouchType aims to correct this mis-orientation by opening its own text-entry window that will feature a much more comfortable, wider, landscape-oriented keyboard in tow. TouchType can be purchased for $0.99 from the iTunes AppStore. Add a comment | From: TouchType IPhone App Turns Things Around | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...

Trusted Reviews have gotten their mitts on the Voix MPX&MPY iPod Speaker Dock, and here's what they have to say about this strangely designed system. The Voix MPX&MPY take a unique approach to iPod speaker dock design creating, potentially, the perfect all-in-one living room audio upgrade. However, they're let down by one simple flaw that is simply untenable - and they could do with a fix for the IPhone problems as well! Their main beef? The volume control which is just plain nuts - increasing it a notch will sound as though the volume has doubled, making this neighbor-unfriendly. Ditto for lowering the volume. Hopefully Voix will take note of this in future iterations. Add a comment | From: Voix MPX&MPY iPod Speaker Dock Review | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...

The IPhone 3G is one slim handset, which is why it in turn deserves an ultra-thin form fitting case known as the Feather from Incipio Technologies. Taking a cue from prophylactics, the Feather measures less than 1mm thin. Despite the apparent thin design, it is made out of an ultra-light, ultra-strong polymer that boasts a soft touch matte finish. You will be able to choose from black, turquoise, magenta, white, and olive green colors. While this will help protect your IPhone 3G from minor scratches and nasty fingerprints, it won't do much against drops onto concrete or knocks. The Feather can be yours for $19.99 . [CEATEC 2008] The Bose SoundDock II digital music system was shown as a “new” item as CEATEC. It’s an introduction without fanfare, as it is “just” an iPod speaker/dock after all. As you might suspect, there’s not a whole lot of room to innovate on an iPod speaker-system so the list of added features is short: IPhone compatible Standard jack audio connector in the back (for non-iPod players or your computer) It costs $299 ($100 less than the original SoundDock) and is available right now. The show was way too noisy to make any meaningful comment on the audio-quality, sorry. Add a comment | From: Bose SoundDock II at CEATEC | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...

This heart rate monitor application uses the IPhone's microphone to "listen" and measure your heart beat. As the image shows, you can use the phone directly on your (bare) chest, or more conveniently under your jaw, with a headphone cable microphone. It is said to work best with the new IPhone 3G. Users of older models should always use the headphone microphone. (video in the full post) Add a comment | From: Heart rate monitor IPhone app (video) | Visit Ubergizmo | Good Deals ...
