Filed under: Internet , Windows , Freeware , Browsers Sleipnir is a web browser that's popular in Japan and pretty much unheard of in the rest of the world. The Windows-only browser lets users choose between the rendering engines used by market leaders Internet Explorer and Firefox. But Sleipnir is more than just a pretty front end for either browser. It's a standalone tool that provides users with a huge number of customization options. Fenrir, the company behind the free browser, has been making an English language version for a while now, but Computer World reports that the company is stepping up its efforts to promote the browser outside of Japan. Here are a few of the things that make Sleipnir worth checking out: If you install the optional Gecko plugin, you can switch between the Firefox and Internet Explorer rendering engines with the click of a button. You can do something similar with the IETab add-on for Firefox, but Sleipnir includes this functionality out of the box. When you select text, a box shows up on screen letting you search for that text on the web or translate the text from English to Japanese and vice versa. You can even plot a highlighted address on a map. You can extend the browser's functionality with scripts and plugins . There's also a portable version of Sleipnir that you can run from a flash drive. [via Digital Inspiration ] Read  |  Permalink  |  Email this  |  Comments ...

Rendering in IE 7.0 and FireFox 3.0.1 are compared for the website Technology Questions . You will quickly see the site headers and width are very different. Cache on the server as well as locally have all been cleared several times. I am logged into the site as LPH in both browsers. Let me know your thoughts. Do you have an explanation? How would you fix this problem? ...

Good afternoon, I'm testing Articulate in order to create a quiz for our employees. The quiz will be hosted on our Intranet which runs ColdFusion. When a user wants to "Email Results", the standard IE box comes up saying "This form is being submitted using e-mail..." I understand someone posted some instructions on how to implement sendmail.php to get around that problem; however, that is not an option on our Intranet environment and I'm also not authorized to make changes to our web server. With that said, I want to know someone could provide some ideas on how a user can Email Results without the box coming up on a ColdFusion environment. Thank you so much for your time. Chris ...

The specific problem I am having relates to the browser hanging and running it's memory use up. If I give it a higher priority (working with the Windows task manager process list) sometimes it will resolve, but it will return every time. I get between one and five minutes of FF3 free wheeling fun and then bam I hit the brick wall of idiocracy. It has topped out at 200k even with no page loaded and in safe mode. ...
