On July 18, the world's most prominent Holocaust Denier, David Irving, parachuted into New York City to deliver a talk to a few dozen supporters. It was Irving's first major stateside appearance since his release from an Austrian prison where the British writer spent a year for "trivializing the Holocaust" -- a crime in that country. Irving is the author of numerous books on Hitler and the Third Reich. With support from the Southern Poverty Law Center, I produced a video about Irving's New York lecture, "Springtime For Irving," containing an exclusive interview with Irving, along with a look at his Nazi sympathizing supporters. He ended up at the place we expected originally, the infamous Sala Thai restaurant. This was the place that hosted an event just before the American Renaissance conference back in February, and was the regular meeting place for the Northern Virginia chapter of the Council of Conservative Citizens.This is a good sign that yeah, like all the pundits say, the political dynamic just might be changing in Virginia! If you want to get in on the fun in your locale, all you have to know is that if Irving shows up at a public establishment, odds are he lied about who he was and what was going to take place there to secure the venue. Since they have as much freedom of association as he has freedom of speech, they are more than likely going to shut their doors to him after learning what is up. Strongly criticizing Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party’s actions in regard to Israel/Palestine, Liberal Party External Affairs critic Bob Rae failed to provide any concrete actions his own party intends to take. “It was the emergence of modern Zionism that would set the stage for modern conflict,” He began. His proposed solution to this roughly century-long conflict is “recognition of two states, new governance for Jerusalem, limited right of return, and generous funding of a Palestinian state.” Contradicting himself several times throughout his speech, Rae paid lip service to the social justice movement while adding to the pile of anti-Iran rhetoric. “Iran’s president is a Holocaust Denier and refers to Israel by what can only be described as the most hateful of terms." “Our role should not be of simple neutrality,” he said, adding, “Our friendship with Israel by no means can be indifferent to the Palestinian claim [for self-governance].” When challenged on his proposed plan of action, he reverted back to mediating and perpetuating the aging peace-process. On the Live Desk 8/4/08, FOX correspondent Steve Brown presented a clip from Paul Fromm, identified only as a "free speech activist," about complaints of hate speech brought against frequent FOX guest Mark Steyn. But FOX failed to reveal Fromm's own reputation as "Canada's most notorious extremist, whose views form a trifecta of hate: he's a white supremacist, a Holocaust Denier and an anti-Semite. And he's got a history of extremism a mile long." Beirich doesn't argue the pros or cons of Steyn's prosecution in Canada, but rather focuses on Fromm's background and FOX's failure to let viewers know exactly whose views they were listening to. Somehow, someway, a bit of slime oozed its way into a Manhattan church to insinuate itself into that fair city and thereby contaminate it. Somehow, I managed to miss it. Sadly, the world's most famous Holocaust Denier, David Irving , is touring the U.S. to give aid and comfort to anti-Semites, racists, and Nazi wannabes all throughout the United States . I can't figure out why he's allowed in the U.S., but somehow he is, and he takes full advantage of the situation to replenish his coffers with the dollars of the American white power ranger Jew-hater contingent, all the while claiming he is not an anti-Semite or a Holocaust Denier. This time around, The Huffington Post actually did something useful. As of the most recent print edition, the number listed was 89,900. The sources listed are the Defense Department, iraqbodycount.org, and nationalpriorities.org. The Lancet, one of the world's most prestigious medical journals, says the real number was over 650,000 back in 2006. That means that the real number, as of mid-2008, is well over a million. Combining that estimate with Australian physician Gideon Polya's historical study, we find that a total of 8.6 million Iraqis have been murdered by Anglo-American wars, interventions and sanctions since 1950. You can probably guess where the Boy Wonder's going with this; the Capitol Times is a Holocaust-denying publication. Never mind that almost everybody discounts the Lancet study. For starters, it was funded by George Soros. No other estimate has even been in the same ballpark: New research published by The New England Journal of Medicine estimates that 151,000 people - less than a quarter of The Lancet estimate - have died since the invasion in 2003. Famed Holocaust Denier David Irving is in Manhattan today, ready to fan the flames of anti-Semitism once again — that is, if he can find a place that will let him in the door. Irving is on a three-month, 50-city speaking tour, but the venue he had booked for today’s 7 p.m., $20-per-ticket event abruptly canceled after activists from the group Anti-Racist Action called to protest Irving’s appearance there. Apparently, the Upper West Side church hall run by the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association had no idea it would be hosting a man widely considered to be the world's most effective and dangerous Holocaust Denier. The Baptist Association declined to comment, but activists familiar with Irving said it was likely that he had booked the venue without using his name or giving any details about the nature of the event. As of press time, Irving had not returned a call from the Voice . Irving, a British author and historian, was imprisoned for a little over a year in Austria for the crime of glorifying the Nazi Party, and is considered an intellectual hero by many white supremacists. This is his first visit to the U.S. since his release from prison in 2006.
