I'll give you guys the weekend to ponder this one. I like Sean Avery's game. He's ultra competitive, he has some skills, and he can help a team win in the short-term. My biggest concern is the Stars have tied themeselves to him for the long-term with the four-year, $15.5 million contract they signed this summer. So can Avery find a home and stay in one place for a while? It's a challenging question, because of who he is on the ice and who he is off. I like Avery's game on the ice _ to a point. I'm actually torn on the agitator's role in today's NHL. If the league would do away with the instigator rule, I would like the agitator's role even better, because it would take some major courage to pull some of the stunts these guys do and then know that you have to go out and fight a heavyweight. There's a lot to be said for people like Avery and Steve Ott and Jordin Tootoo and Daniel Carcillo, because they do fight when they have to. But the fact that they are a able to stir the pot and then turn away....I don't know, it just doesn't seem like the way hockey should be played. That said, it is the way of the NHL today, and the aforementioned quartet do a great job of bringing energy to the game. Avery, in my opinion, in the best in the league at playing the role. If you can't have Tomas Holmstrom (who is a hybrid and not a true agitator), then Avery is the guy to help you out in this area. The combination of Avery and Ott should be espe ...

So, Hal Lindsey thinks Barack Obama's recent trip to Europe is some sort of foreshadowing of the kinds of things to expect from a future Antichrist--the adoring masses gathering to hear from the world's self-proclaimed messiah.  ( Click here: How Obama prepped world for the Antichrist )  Not only am I pretty sure that Lindsey's theological categories are not the right ones, but Obama's popularity actually went down as a result of his trip.  Shouldn't the reverse be the case for Lindsey's thesis to make any sense? Hey, somebody ought to write a book about the Antichrist!  Here's a shameless plug.  Click here: Riddleblog - Man of Sin - Uncovering the Truth About Antichrist Now this is hideous--using the Stanley Cup as a baptismal font?  Lord Stanley's Cup is some sort of holy relic, while baptism is some quaint ritual?  Very sad.   Click here: Wings' Holmstrom uses Stanley Cup in baptism My wife likes to watching Dancing with the Stars once in a while--she's not a fanatic about it, or anything.  But here's a great excuse for me to miss the whole next season.   How do you spell Tango?  Is there an "e" on the end?  Click here: Dancing with Dan Quayle? I don't believe this news report for one second.  Teens in a high speed chase?  OK . . . that part, I can believe.  But in a "high-speed" chase in a Prius?????   Only if it had a full-charge and was going downhill!  One hundred miles an hour?  In a Prius?  The cops are making that part up.  C ...

(12 votes - 1 comment - 315 views) (YouTube/ABC News) Ellensburg, Wash., is home to a truly unique young man: 12-year-old Brenden Adams, who is more than seven feet tall and, incredibly, still growing. He towers over his classmates and even his teacher, Gretchen Holmstrom, who jokingly quipped, "I'm 5'9," so I never look up to sixth graders -- until this year...never say never!" And though friends say Brenden is just a regular kid, he's obviously not like anybody else. He has to duck through most doorways and sit sideways at his school desk because his knees don't fit under it. In his mom's sport utility vehicle, he has to fold down the second row of seats, sit in the third row and stretch his legs out over the middle row in order to sit comfortably. His shoe size? 18 and still growing. Not Just a Tall Kid Brenden is one-of-a-kind, and it's not just his height. Everything about him is different. His mom, Debbie Ezell, said he requires a team of doctors and multiple medical visits simply to stay on top of his ever-changing and expanding frame. He has enormous joints, fatty tumors, even extra teeth, 12 of which were recently removed. Amazingly, his dad, Willie Adams, said there was no hint of any of this when Brenden was born at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 1/2 inches in length. His mom says they first started to notice something was different at his 2 month check-up. "They said, these measurements just aren't right. He's too long," Ezell ...

We can assume a couple things: one, if Mike Babcock decides to keep the top line of Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom together then it’s a sure bet Franzen, Filppula and Hossa will play together; and two, that the inevitable injuries that occur will give a few other skaters shots at playing on one of the top two lines. Now what if Babcock decides to break up the top line? Well then ... A former Rockford man accused of shooting and killing a taxi driver in April 2006 pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree murder. In entering his guilty plea, Juhnell C. Morgan, 22, of Chicago, agreed to a 50-year prison sentence. Prosecuting attorney Bob Fuenty said Morgan gave a confession, admitting to two police detectives that he shot Pamela Holmstrom while she was working the overnight shift for Action Taxi Co. Holmstrom was driving her cab April 30 near the intersection of Bluefield Street and Arthur Avenue when Morgan allegedly ambushed her. Authorities believe Morgan called Action Taxi and asked for a ride. When Holmstrom arrived to pick someone up, police say, Morgan shot her in the head as he tried to rob her. Morgan fled on foot. Morgan evaded authorities until August 2006 when Chicago police arrested him on drug charges.   View Larger Map ...
