Six former high school students have been sentenced to prison for their part in the holdup of a Mount Pleasant grocery store two years ago. The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the former Wando High School students were sentenced Tuesday under the Youthful Offenders Act. While they could be held for up to six years, they are eligible to take part in a correctional boot camp for 10 months and then be put on supervised release. Authorities say the six acted mainly as lookouts in the store parking lot. They pleaded guilty last year. FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ A man accused of stealing 40 guns from two separate Grand Forks dealers has been sentenced in federal court to nearly three years in prison. Thirty-one-year-old Kelly Stenstrum of Grand Forks pleaded guilty to three felony charges in the case in April. By Cindy Witten 17 July 2008 According to police Spokesperson Nondumiso Paul, Police have arrested two men and fatally wounded another believed to be linked to cash- in-transit Heist that occurred in Philippi East on Monday, when a cash van was robbed while outside a local grocery store in stock road. The men got away in a white Ford Bantam Bakkie, which was later found by Police in a small business area in Philippi. One of the suspects were in the bakkie and helped Police to find the other suspect. “Two of the men ran away and one man shot at the police, who fired back,” said Paul. When Maggie Ann Montgomery opened a Christmas gift from her granddaughter 10 years ago, she never could have imagined how it would lead to the arrest of two burglars. On the morning of June 30, Montgomery left her Smyrna home to volunteer at church, returning home around lunchtime to find her home burglarized. Thieves had stolen jewelry, a gun, a chainsaw, gasoline and various other items, she said. One of the stolen items was the Christmas present, a tie tack from Sayers Jewelers & Gemologists printed with Montgomery’s 4-digit Delaware license plate number, 1417. Later the same day, a pair of thieves attempted to burglarize a home in Georgetown. The resident, who was home at the time, called 9-1-1, and officers from Georgetown Police and Delaware State Police Troop 4 arrested 41-year-old Sharon Gorman and 21-year old Wesley Ewing, both of Elkton, Maryland. When police searched the suspects’ truck, they found an unusual piece of jewelry. “As the policeman was going through, he thought it looked like a license tag,” Montgomery said. Police ran the plate number on the tie tack and learned that the owner of tag number 1417 was Montgomery. The next day, Montgomery had her belongings back. “Look at that, it solved a robbery,” Ron Sayers told Montgomery when she recounted her unusual tale.
