I've bought an External HDD to connect to my MacBook Pro via USB. I had a few problems getting it working, but I deduced that these were down to a slightly loose cable and decided to put up with it. However, the drive is now locking me out of OSX - I can't click on anything - when I try to use it. I've just plugged it in to my girlfriend's MacBook, and it's working perfectly: mounts immediately, I can move the drive around physically without it disconnecting. So I now think the problem lies either with my MacBook Pro or with my install of OS X. I'm pretty new to Macs having just switched, so would really appreciate any help anyone offer to get this sorted out. Many thanks in advance. ...

I recently purchased a 100GB HDD 2.5 SATA and an USB 2.0 Enclosure... I backed up all of my data correctly except for the single iPhoto Library file which is like 29GB... I try to copy it to the USB Drive and it starts ok with a lot of noise on the HDD, and then it stops... have happened at 5GB, 10GB, 25GB of transfer.... I haven't been able to complete this transfer and Im wondering what am I doing wrong or if there's a different way... Thanks in advance ...

I am having a problem with my Vista install. I load my backup in to the DVD tray and close it. The Windows Dialog then appears prompting me to choose an operation on what I want to do on the disk. I either select View Files, or close the dialog and access the DVD from the Explorer. Either way, it brings up the dialog (Windows Explorer) with the data on the disk. Then, when I select say for instance a folder, my HDD light goes red and stays red. The DVD continues to spin, but Explorer then goes an infinite loading bar. I wait and wait, when I finally decide to remove the disk. Well, my HDD light still stays red, although, everything that is dumped in memory by SuperFetch (Calc, IE, etc.) starts just fine, but the bigger applications refuse to start. I then shut down the computer, and it doesn't shut down, it seems as though the HDD is locked. I finally hit the reset button and reboot. Also to note, that my system doesn't start up if I have a backup in my drive. It gets stuck before the Vista Orb glows. Now, is this a corrupt DVD that is causing this, or maybe a Malicious Malware on the disk that forces Vista to lock itself up? I know, with audio CDs and my old CD backups work just fine. Note that everything works fine in Debian. ...
