Hey everyone. I've been reading these forums for a few years now but never had a reason to post until now. Since yesterday I have been experiencing either no video or severe pixelation/jerky video on specific HD Channels. Now I did some searching through the threads and noticed that all of the Channels I am having an issue with the Channels that are on the same frequency. For example TBS, TNT, CNN and FoodHD all either out or unwatchable. The other ones are TLC, Discovery, Travel and Animal Planet. All of my other HD Channels are working just fine. Does any one have any suggestions? I called up CV and they want to send a tech out but I don't feel like getting charged if nothing is wrong with my wiring. I'm on the Bronx system. Thanks! ... In the D.C. market, I've noticed that Comcast has a repetitive channel lineup.... For example, HBO HD appears twice in the lineup... 228 and 300 Movies on Demand 315 and 366 Showtime HD 238 and 339 HD on Demand 216 and 247 and 487 and 488 AMC appears on 53 and 138 Why does Comcast do this? At the very least they could reduce the "Compression" bonding of these HD Channels in the meantime, and not carry 2 streams of the same thing.... Goodness knows that anytime I try watching something on AMC HD, it's painful, with "slow motion" artifacts everywhere. In this case, it's pointless quantity by having two Showtime HD's, when I'd prefer quality for AMC HD. I also imagine that this duplicative lineup is keeping us from having new Channels like FX HD, Bravo HD, or Fox News HD from the extra space that these duplicative Channels take up? -- "We're going to start at one end of (Fallujah), and we're not going to stop until we get to the other. As was mentioned, a few new HD Channels are coming... here they are with the channel they will be assigned to: VH1 HD - channel 752 MTV HD - channel 753 CMT HD - channel 755 Fuse HD - channel 756 NHL Network HD - channel 791 Still wondering where Sci-Fi HD and USA HD are. I hope they figure out the whole HD thing soon so that they can actually broadcast HD without the compression or at least without compression that makes the signal look far less than HD. Such a waste of great technology. It's not like HD is brand new. Sure broadcasting multiple Channels is new, but seriously, get it together. And update the gui/on screen menu from the 90's already Cablevision! And have the 'guide' button go to GUIDE! Not rocket science people. ... Source: www.dslreports.com --- 21 days ago

I am getting sick of the Dumb Comcast Commercials that are comparing more HD Channels to Direct TV. When I first got Comcast HD it wasn't too bad. I did notice that some high speed action would have macro-blocking (look like it was coming in squares for short periods). I had thought, oh yeah, new technology, and probably some scenes were done with older camera's that weren't as good. In some cases I think this was true because as they switched views, I could see things clear up. But I recently canceled when they increased the price. Not just for the price increase but also for the reduction in quality. I have noticed over the years that they added more Channels, and the Channels I had, were getting a lot worse. When the price increased, I decided to re-evaluate what I was paying for, so I watched some Channels more for evaluation than content. During this time, I was watching the Olympics, and I thought for that, maybe it's just transmission problems from such a distance. While watching a HD Musical, the audio was breaking up so bad, that it wasn't worth watching. It would break up, along with the images so bad I couldn't take it. It was consistent throughout the show. While Watching sports, the Macro-blocking was still pretty annoying. So much so, that it's hard to focus on the content when it was happening. I decided to compare it to what I could get through my QAM Tuner. SO I attached that and scanned for Channels. I picked up quite ... Source: bensbargains.net --- 3 days ago

Yes, DirecTV has more HD Channels than any of its competitors -- 130 if you include PPV, a bunch of regional sports Channels, many variants of the pay-movie Channels -- but it still lacks some major names. There's no AMC HD, no Fox News HD and no PBS HD. I have no idea if DirecTV has been slow to negotiate deals with these Channels or whether it doesn't have satellite space to add them. If this is just a matter of negotiations, I say get these deals sealed. Fox News is easily the top rated news channel. AMC airs the show that just won the Best Drama Emmy. And PBS has great documentaries. If this is a matter of sheer space, DirecTV should make way by dropping some of its more obscure Channels. I'd suggest Altitude HD, Biography HD, Fuel HD and Planet Green HD. If space is really at a premium, I'd even suggest dropping the HD feeds from MTV and VH1. I'm not arguing that they're obscure Channels but I have never once seen a single bit of HD content on either of them, so there's really no point. Being HD king isn't just a matter of numbers. It's about offering the stuff that people actually want to see. ... Source: www.tivocommunity.com --- 19 days ago
I'm experiencing intermittent signal strength on a limited number of Comcast HD Channels. The problem Channels are all in a narrow frequency band; 747000 KHZ (724) and 753000 KHZ (707 and 709). I've seen the signal strength vary dramatically on an hour by hour or day by day basis. At mid evening tonight, 707 was showing no signal for several hours. In late evening, it jumped up to 86. 709 also showed similar symptoms. I'm located in Sunnyvale, CA. I don't think the problem is due to poor cabling or loss of high frequency signals within my house. I've just recently replaced the entire cable run between the Comcast connection and the TV with a brand new RG 6 cable. And a station at a higher frequency point, 807000 KHZ (720), shows a consistent reading of 90. I have two of the S style cablecards. The problem is present on both tuners / cablecards. My guess is that the problem is due to a poor signal from Comcast. Have others seen this problem of selective intermittent loss of Channels? Since the signal strength is moving hour by hour and day by day on the bad Channels, this is going to be hard to demonstrate to Comcast. ... Source: www.dbstalk.com --- 29 days ago
