Golf for Pecatonica’s team may be over this season, but for the first time in school history, a female Golfer will advance to a sectional. Junior Millie Koppean shot a 97, which placed her third among golfers who were not members of advancing team. She was quite proud of the historic achievement, and thanked male counterparts that helped the boys team finish undefeated in the NUIC and win a conference crown. “I’m honored honestly,” she said. “‘Pec’s a great place, and the golf team is fun. I actually owe the guys (on the boys golf team) a lot. They improved my game.” Koppean also said the weather improving, helped her game as well. She said it was cold starting out, but conditions became more beneficiary as the day went on. “My game started to improve and those putts started sinking,” she said. “On Hole No. 3, I was about 117 out, and I probably landed about 18 feet from the hole.” Koppean shot a 45 on the front nine, which was one of the best scores through nine holes, but struggled a bit on the back due to the tallest plants on the PrairieView Golf Course. “I had some confrontations with the trees,” she said. Pecatonica coach Marcia Seaton was proud of the junior’s overall approach with the game. Despite Koppean’s troubles on the back nine, Seaton was happy she kept her composure and shot a 52. “She was under control the whole time,” Seaton said. “I was very proud of her, and I think the school will be very excited to hear about ...
