You have to a love it when a guy gets a standing ovation for signing his name to a $111 million contract. That's what happened at today's Gilbert Arenas "press" conference. In reality, it was a few reporters/media types and then a bunch of employees of the Wizards/sponsors who gave Agent Zero a standing O when he walked in. I thought it that was hillarious. Anyway, it was pretty standard stuff. (I'm writing a story on this for tomorrow's Post and will be Washington Post Live this evening talking about it so for deeper detail now, check out Dan Steinberg's blog). Afterall, the guy signed the deal last week and the presser was delayed because everyone was in Las Vegas for summer league. Abe Pollin attended as did Ernie Grunfeld and Eddie Jordan. Gilbert Arenas doesn't vote and isn't even registered to vote. In fact, he'd rather just die instead of going to jury duty because he might die as a result of going to jury duty. Makes sense, right? 5. Wizards: Their big moves have been to re-sign Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison. With Caron Butler already in the fold, it gives Washington a scoring trio that few other teams can match.
