Heroes Season 2 was mostly garbage. So I was kind of glad the writer's strike gave them the chance to reboot and blow past the rest of the season, thereby preserving my final, dangly shreds of interest (though I worry about this season's rumored multi-verse). Anyways! One deleted scene reveals Hiro's dad's (George Takei) power: He's a supercomputer, but even faster (how delightfully racially stereotyped), which makes him really good at predicting the future, and of course, stock trading. Out icon George Takei has followed up his country singing performance on Secret Talents of the Stars with an appearance on a show that harkens back to the heydays of glorious trainwrecks like Pink Lady & Jeff . The show is called Wanna Bet? , and it's an American version of a German game show, hosted by the British comedy duo Ant and Dec (It's like a commercial for the United Colors of Crap). George is one of the celebrity guests on the show, along with ... wait for it ... Harland Williams , Sherri Sheppard , and Tom Green. (AKA "Hell's Conga Line.") The fact that George (who can sometimes come across as a bit "eccentric") manages not to be the oddest one on the panel says a lot. Please spare a thought today for Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg The show has the four stars competing (for charity) to see if they can successfully guess whether a contestant with an unusual talent will be able to succeed or fail (it's basically "stupid human tricks" for money). They start out at $25,000 and wager parts of it on each player, and whoever has the most money at the end will win that money for his charity. The first contestant is a former anthropologist who's going to try to hula hoop a 50-pound rubber tractor tire for 45 seconds, which leads to this awesomeness: Sherri : "I think you should have stayed an anthropologist, cause you can dig up my bones anytime" Harland : "I think he's got to succeed, because my father always told me, son, always we ...
Electronic Arts has revealed the actors appearing in Red Alert 3's single player mode, and what the list lacks in Oscar-winning thespian talent, it more than makes up for in pure B-movie cheese potential. Most impressively, the cast includes Tim Curry ( Rocky Horror Picture Show , Scooby Doo And The Witch's Ghost ) and George "Sulu" Takei ( Star Trek , Heroes ); two actors who have an impressive ability for turning weak scripts into thoroughly enjoyable, watchable (if campy) productions. Curry and Takei, along with the other actors, will appear in the game's FMV story sequences, a series trademark that returns in all of its lo-fi glory for the third installment of Red Alert . Yet as you scold us with your left hand, we cannot help but notice how you caress us with your right, as the announcement that George Takei, J K Simmons & Tim Curry will be running the game's factions goes a long way towards making up for an absence of B-grade T&A. I admit, like many I too was disappointed by season two of Heroes . Even without the impact of the writers’ strike, the show lost some of its verve . But my biggest problem of the show was the lack of financial planning . That’s right: no focus on the stock market? With a guy who can travel through time? C’mon, that’s just blatant oversight. Fortunately, this deleted scene from season two makes up for that notable omission. While it doesn’t feature time-traveling Hiro, it’s got his father, played by George Takei—which I might argue is even better . Now you know that when heroes play the stock market—they play to win —watch closely to the end there. Interesting that this scene was cut from the final episode. On NBC . The live-action cutscenes populating EA's (and Westwood's before that) Command & Conquer games have always had an aura of sincere goofiness about them, the source of which can be traced to somewhat respected actors playing all-too-silly roles all too seriously. But is this done on purpose, or did the director read about "tongue-in-cheek storytelling" in a review somewhere and just decide to go with that? Either way, we're more than happy to see EA unveil a "star studded" cast (complete list after the break) for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 , which includes George Takei, Tim Curry and J.K. Simmons, who plays the "anti-communist U.S. President." Simmons, who doesn't give a wooden nickel about your legacy , thinks video games " are one of the new frontiers for actors" and thought of the role as a " great opportunity for a character actor like me to have some fun." Also allowed to open her mouth in the press release: Jenny McCarthy, who plays Allied commando Tanya. " What I realized is Red Alert 3 is not just a video game, it's absolutely an interactive movie. EA announced at its Leipzig Games Convention press conference today additional details on the cast of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 , including the casting of Jenny McCarthy, pictured, as Tanya, the staple special ops unit. But that's not all. The leaders of the three factions — Allies, Empire of the Rising Sun and the Soviet Union — will be played by JK Simmons, George Takei and Tim Curry, respectively. In the trailer we were shown, Takei's lines appear to be dubbed with his own voice, dialogue intentionally out of synch with his lip movements. Also announced was the appearance of Kelly Hu, who will join Gina Carano and Gemma Atkinson as the Empire of the Rising Sun's obligatory sexpot.
