No really, I’m not kidding. Two researchers from UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon thought that the methods employed by US News and World Report to rank the nation’s top universities was just a bit too arbitrary. As Science News reports in a great article to share with high school and undergrad math students, [...] ...

Hi all, I'm having trouble finding Geometry specs on any of the Centurion Ironman bikes. I'm riding a 1986 Centurion Dave Scott Ironman right now (not the Expert or Master). I can't really tell the differences from my Schwinn Prologue frame, which has 74.5 ST and 73 HT angles (both frames are... ...

Then how does the moon know that the earth has an iron core and not a marshmallow core? That is, if gravity is all about distorting space, why does a more dense object with radius X exert more gravitational pull than a less dense object with the same radius. I'm thinking Einstein here and not quantum physics. ...

Pictured is the Wii version btw I read a story about how Geometry Wars came about a long while back. The story goes that in his spare time while working on a game, this programmer created a distraction and through feedback from the people around during the span of the project, Geometry Wars was born. I [...] ...

Last time we did a bunch of stuff with fans and polytopes and made a lot of definitions. This time, we get to use that stuff to do some algebraic Geometry. First up, we’ll need to define some lattice in some vector space, otherwise nothing we did last time is applicable. Now, [...] ...

Forum: NewTek Lightwave 3D Posted By: eljefeloco Post Time: 10-10-2008 at 12:30 AM Text: Finally, a resource for LW help that is active! I'm modeling a bottle where the top of the bottle changes from a rounded rectangle shape to a circle, like the bottle in this image: http://www.pantone.com/images/pages..._odwalla_dk.gif I have the rounded rectangle shape where I need it to be, but can't figure out a good way to morph it into a circle. I attempted this by importing a series of shapes in Illustrator (blending from the rounded rect to a circle) and using the BGconform tool. This gets me close to what I'm trying to do, but it deforms my Geometry since the # of points on each shape is different. Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this? Either a tool that does it or a way to add a uniform # of points to my imported shapes? ...
