The structure of these reports will evolve over time, but figure on seeing reports like this one on Islanders Outsider , as well as regular awarding of Islanders fantasy stars of the Game, a running leaderboard of fantasy stars, and Recaps of line combinations for even strength, power play, and shorthanded situations. It is impossible to evaluate the fantasy value of players in a way that will satisfy every scoring system available. So, players will be evaluated as follows: Player : These players provide enough value across the board to be in play in almost any league. Someone in your league will draft them. Will it be you? Prospect : These players have the potential to reward you based on their performance, expectations, and circumstances. They're not no-brainers, but could provide decent value given ice time, the right linemates, and/or stepping up their play. Drafting them will come with some risk. Not drafting them could cause you to miss out on a good depth player. Specialist : These are players who offer high value in one or two scoring categories. If your ro ... For someone like me that loves watching baseball, today was heaven, three great games. Thought I'd put up short Recaps of the games so we have a place to talk about them. First Game: Brewers 1 Phillies 3 Great Game, I haven't seen many Philly games this season and didn't realize what a great pitcher Cole Hamels has become. 8 innings of 2 hit ball, 1 walk and 9 strikeouts against a strong Brewers team. A two run double by Utley was all the offense the Phillies needed. Victorino drove in the other run with a bases loaded walk. Yovani Gallardo (who?) started for the Brewers, he only gave up 3 hits but walked 5 in his 4 innings and gave up the 3 Philly runs. Offensively the Brewers didn't get anything going till the 9th when the very shaky Brad Lidge gave up 2 hits and a walk but managed to get out of it with the save. It reminded me of one of BJ's saves. He had to let the winning run come to bat before getting the third out.The Phillie's fans can't feel very confident with Lidge in the closing role. Former Jay Matt Stairs didn't get into the Game today. I wouldn't count the Brewers out yet, CC Sabathia is starting tomorrow and he has been amazing since the trade. Then Saturday former Jay Dave Bush starts. Second Game: Dodgers 7 Cubs 2 Canadian Ryan Dempster did not do well, 4.2 innings, 4 hits, 7 (!) walks and 4 earned. But the other Canadian in the Game Russell Martin hit one out. As well for the Dodgers James Loney hit a grand slam ... Source: www.blackshoediaries.com --- 4 days ago

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The Game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. -- A. Bartlett Giamatti, "The Green Fields of the Mind" Normally, I end my final Game recap of a baseball season with Bart Giamatti's words, but this afternoon, as, perhaps not coincidentally, one of those fall chill rains is falling gently in Chicago, it seems more appropriate to begin with them. Let me attempt to put into words the stunning collapse of the team we just knew was going to be the one to win it all. Usually, one of my Game Recaps includes a link to the boxscore of the Game. Why bother? You all saw it, and you don't need me to tell you or remind you of the series' last Game, which, although the score was closer, the Cubs didn't appear to be there, just as they barely showed up for games one and two. Neither did I read any of the local sports pages' articles or columns about the disaster -- and having heard that they were filled with remarks about goats and black cats and curses, I'm glad I didn't. To mention those, I think, is lame and weak and doesn't addr ...

Filed under: Arts and Culture , Cameroon , China , News Each week, when I pick out posts for Gadling's Take FIVE, I look for posts that fit together in some way. These week, I've noticed a numbers theme. In David's post on America's most scenic train route , he noted that the journey between New York City and Montreal takes 11 hours and there are 90 seats left for the period between October 2 and November 11. Abha found out that only 8 people in the Cameroon speak Busuu and that the human voice only travels 200 meters. You can read about this and more in her post on a website that helps you learn new languages . When a man smuggles 200 canaries in 4 cages in 1 suitcase, there is trouble in international travel. Josh pointed out what that might be. Dead birds, 60 of them, for one thing. Anna gave a heads up about 10 travel websites to tune into. Add Gadling, and that's 11. Jerry is also in the numbers Game. He spent 16 hours in China's Wild West and is writing about it in a feature series. In Mexico there are 5000 condoms, 1 inflatable banana and 1 missing truck . Scott posted about why it would be a good thing if all were found. And I've started watching the Amazing Race and posting Recaps on that. This is season 13 . If you're counting, you'll notice 7 this week instead of 5. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments ... Find more results for Game Recaps on RSSMicro.com |
