We try to avoid most of the Gadget destruction videos because, well, most of them are crap and we kinda like gadgets. Even the old ones that don't really work anymore and take up space in the corner gathering dust and spiders. The above one though is almost arty in the way that this owner despatches a dead MacBook Pro. We even have a soulful piano score to accompany the slo-mo destruction of what was once a well-loved companion. Maybe be this could be the new Microsoft ad . I realise that certain Apple Fans may have to be resuscitated, while others look away in horror, but we've been assured by the maker - who does eerily resemble Cousin It with an axe - that recycling and harvesting parts was not really an option. Why? Because this poor MacBook had been puked on, comprehensively. Just thinking of what lay secreted under those keys is enough to sanction video death by axe.-Martin Lynch [ Slow Motion ] laptop apple video ... Source: blog.mail.com --- 39 days ago

Today at Boing Boing Gadgets, there was news of a long-life netbook battery for MSI's Wind, a debunking of yesterday's Mac Pro benzene claims, and yet another fake MacBook Pro rendering. Big fish of the day is Nokia's latest cellphone, which loses its "Tube" rumor-name to become the Xpress Music 5880. Fujitsu thinks that multitouch laptop displays will prove unintuitive. John found revolting Gadget replicas made of meat, Joel gobbled up the random snack pieces of "Gamer Grub," and Rob spotted an amusingly dangerous light switch. There was a chair modeled on sound waves, an alarm clock you have to pay to shut up, and a Zune for Gears of War Fans. The Grenade Mouse is exactly what it sounds like, though what will become of trouble housewares brand Ronco, no-one knows. Find out about Erik Ramsay, who can't move a muscle—but who can help develop a computerized thought-to-speech system. And find out about Victor Papagno, who could be off to prison after taking home office equipment valued at $120,000. Sick of us talking about a certain company and its products? He began on the same circuit of Detroit parties and clubs most have traveled, eventually establishing residencies at Ann Arbor's Necto and Detroit's prominent after hours party spot, The Works. He also performed at both 2004's Movement festival as well as 2006's Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and has shared the decks with fellow Detroit DJ's Matthew Dear, Derek Plaslaiko and Ryan Elliott. In 2005, he was handpicked as a chosen replacement for the next batch of DJ's at Detroit's monthly "Untitled" parties, and in 2007, the up-start record label Mood Gadget. Since then he has gone on to be label manager for Subtrak, a true-to-its-roots techno venture slowly making waves amongst Fans of Detroit, Minimal, and Dub techno. Being a trendsetter can be pricey. As any fashionista or Gadget hound knows, the latest frocks and tech toys don't pay for themselves. But a new Web site is trying to make it profitable for music lovers to stay ahead of the curve - by paying them when other people purchase MP3s they've bought. Berkeley, Calif.-based Popcuts, which publicly launched its Web site in early August, charges users 99 cents per song. Thereafter, whenever someone else buys the same song, those who have already bought it get paid in credit that can be redeemed for more Popcuts music. The earlier you buy a song, the larger your cut of future sales. And while credit is currently the payment option, the site's founders hope to eventually pay users in cash, too. Hannes Hesse, 28, one of the company's three co-founders, said the idea came from a desire to better align the interests of artists who want to sell their music and Fans who want to get it for free. "We thought that by providing this extra incentive to buy a song legally, namely, owning a stake in that song, would make it more attractive to buy," Hesse said. ... When the iPhone was released last summer, I was excited and caught up in the hype. It was going to be hard for me to give up my Blackberry, and I was also aware that for years my wife had endured Gadget envy as I’d gone out to get myself the latest cool thing, from my original Palm Pilot 5000 (released in 1996) to my latest iPod. The iPhone offered the perfect solution—I’d buy my wife one for her birthday! She’d finally be the Queen of Gadgets, and I’d get to play with it. This wasn’t quite as bad as Fred Flintstone buying Wilma a bowling ball (cut to Fred’s huge fingers) – after all, I did port *her* phone number to the iPhone. More than a year later, the iPhone is still the hottest Gadget going. The iPhone 3G and the iPhone App Store have kicked sales into overdrive. It’s mind boggling to walk by the Apple Stores in San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Palo Alto and see people waiting in line outside just to get into the store! You’d think they were giving iPhones away for free (they’re not). It sure is fun to see this kind of success for Apple, since at PlayFirst we’re Fans of both the Macintosh and the iPhone. And finally, with the launch of the iPhone SDK and the App Store, we’re able to start bringing our games to the reigning champ of gadgets. Yes! You read correctly! I am pleased to announce that Flo and all the fun of Diner Dash is now available on the iPhone ! PlayFirst is committed to bringing our unique brand of fun to everywh ...

First there was the Bold. Then came the Pearl Flip. Now, Fans of Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry devices should expect to hear more about the Apex, Javelin and Niagara in the next coming months, according to a popular Gadget blog. The Boy Genius Report, whose knack for providing exclusive details of upcoming cellphones and other electronic goods, revealed a whack of new information on RIM’s upcoming product cycle launches , likely enraging some of the brass at RIM's headquarters in Waterloo, Ont. So, what exactly are these devices? According to the leaked documents, “Apex” is the codename for the CDMA version of the Pearl Flip, the “Javelin” is a next-generation EDGE product launching in the fall of 2008 and the “Niagara” appears to be the CDMA version of the 8830 enterprise world phone. Another codename, “Meteor,” appears to be the already-released BlackBerry Bold. Then there’s the “Thunder” or as it likely appears to be called the “Storm”, RIM’s touchscreen answer to Apple Inc.’s iPhone. BGR posted leaked images of the Storm’s user manual and internal marketing documents in extensive detail, which makes one wonder how long until RIM’s lawyers issue cease-and-desist letters to the Web site’s owners. Interestingly enough, the BlackBerry Storm is said to support cut-and-paste functionality , one of the main gripes of iPhone users whose devices conspiculously do not have the feature. The BGR also uncovered details of a BlackBer ...
