For the majority of men football is their favorite sport. Simply men love sport related gadgets. A good men gift is the Miniature Table Football Game. We try to avoid most of the Gadget destruction videos because, well, most of them are crap and we kinda like gadgets. Even the old ones that don't really work anymore and take up space in the corner gathering dust and spiders. The above one though is almost arty in the way that this owner despatches a dead MacBook Pro. We even have a soulful piano score to accompany the slo-mo destruction of what was once a well-loved companion. Maybe be this could be the new Microsoft ad . I realise that certain Apple Fans may have to be resuscitated, while others look away in horror, but we've been assured by the maker - who does eerily resemble Cousin It with an axe - that recycling and harvesting parts was not really an option. Why? Because this poor MacBook had been puked on, comprehensively. Just thinking of what lay secreted under those keys is enough to sanction video death by axe.-Martin Lynch [ Slow Motion ] laptop apple video ...

Today at Boing Boing Gadgets, there was news of a long-life netbook battery for MSI's Wind, a debunking of yesterday's Mac Pro benzene claims, and yet another fake MacBook Pro rendering. Big fish of the day is Nokia's latest cellphone, which loses its "Tube" rumor-name to become the Xpress Music 5880. Fujitsu thinks that multitouch laptop displays will prove unintuitive. John found revolting Gadget replicas made of meat, Joel gobbled up the random snack pieces of "Gamer Grub," and Rob spotted an amusingly dangerous light switch. There was a chair modeled on sound waves, an alarm clock you have to pay to shut up, and a Zune for Gears of War Fans. The Grenade Mouse is exactly what it sounds like, though what will become of trouble housewares brand Ronco, no-one knows. Find out about Erik Ramsay, who can't move a muscle—but who can help develop a computerized thought-to-speech system. And find out about Victor Papagno, who could be off to prison after taking home office equipment valued at $120,000. Sick of us talking about a certain company and its products? Being a trendsetter can be pricey. As any fashionista or Gadget hound knows, the latest frocks and tech toys don't pay for themselves. But a new Web site is trying to make it profitable for music lovers to stay ahead of the curve - by paying them when other people purchase MP3s they've bought. Berkeley, Calif.-based Popcuts, which publicly launched its Web site in early August, charges users 99 cents per song. Thereafter, whenever someone else buys the same song, those who have already bought it get paid in credit that can be redeemed for more Popcuts music. The earlier you buy a song, the larger your cut of future sales. And while credit is currently the payment option, the site's founders hope to eventually pay users in cash, too. Hannes Hesse, 28, one of the company's three co-founders, said the idea came from a desire to better align the interests of artists who want to sell their music and Fans who want to get it for free. "We thought that by providing this extra incentive to buy a song legally, namely, owning a stake in that song, would make it more attractive to buy," Hesse said. ...

When the iPhone was released last summer, I was excited and caught up in the hype. It was going to be hard for me to give up my Blackberry, and I was also aware that for years my wife had endured Gadget envy as I’d gone out to get myself the latest cool thing, from my original Palm Pilot 5000 (released in 1996) to my latest iPod. The iPhone offered the perfect solution—I’d buy my wife one for her birthday! She’d finally be the Queen of Gadgets, and I’d get to play with it. This wasn’t quite as bad as Fred Flintstone buying Wilma a bowling ball (cut to Fred’s huge fingers) – after all, I did port *her* phone number to the iPhone. More than a year later, the iPhone is still the hottest Gadget going. The iPhone 3G and the iPhone App Store have kicked sales into overdrive. It’s mind boggling to walk by the Apple Stores in San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Palo Alto and see people waiting in line outside just to get into the store! You’d think they were giving iPhones away for free (they’re not). It sure is fun to see this kind of success for Apple, since at PlayFirst we’re Fans of both the Macintosh and the iPhone. And finally, with the launch of the iPhone SDK and the App Store, we’re able to start bringing our games to the reigning champ of gadgets. Yes! You read correctly! I am pleased to announce that Flo and all the fun of Diner Dash is now available on the iPhone !  PlayFirst is committed to bringing our unique brand of fun to everywh ...

Sony ( NYSE: SNE ) Ericsson ( NSDQ: ERIC ) denies the launch of its first Windows Mobile-powered handset will be delayed. Weekend reports held the Xperia 1, which drew plenty of Gadget Fans to SE's booth when it was announced at Mobile World Congress in February , would be pushed back. But a spokesperson told Reuters : "There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track. We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that." In fairness, the Gadget maker had officially slated "second half of 2008" for release, though one Sony newsletter went off-message and said mid-September. The handset uses a complicated execution of Windows Mobile 6.1 that tries to make the Xperia both a multimedia and business phone. At the IFA Gadget fayre in Berlin, Engadget observed several bugs with the device, adding one Sony Ericsson representative confirmed a launch date as late as January. SE is seen as needing a shot in the arm on handset innovation. Fans of those old school mood rings will be happy to know that mystical Technicolor trinkets have finally invaded today's technology. KDDI and Kyocera have announced the W64SA , a phone that is designed to offer "color therapy" to users via embedded LEDs . The phone's color therapy lights manage to shine through the backside of the main display due to the use of specially molded translucent plastic. The company doesn't claim that the phone will read your thoughts and plaster the corresponding color on the device's casing, but in terms of hippie niceties, the W64SA is an appropriately psychedelic addition to your Gadget arsenal. Following the recent series of rumors involving Steve Jobs and Apple, it's hard to trust any speculation on their next innovation -the Brick. For now, there's no clarification if the Brick is a new laptop product, or simply a manufacturing process. For many Apple Fans, the Brick offered promise to the long-awaited hope for a revolutionary device, but the latest news from sources such as Techtree.com and Business week infer that Apple is implementing a new manufacturing processs for its computer. Techtree.com was confident enough in its sources to flat-out declare "Apple Brick is No New Gadget". An excerpt from the article read The new manufacturing process will use lasers and jets of water to help churn out near-perfect casings for the MacBook out of a brick of aluminum....carving out of aluminum eliminates the need to bend the metal and create weak spots or microfolds and rifts. What is more interesting is the final product that will shape up through this process - a light, strong (and supposedly cheap), one-piece MacBook with no screws! Business week offered two golden nuggets of insight. Their research looked at 9to5mac.com, which cites an anonymous sources that says "The code name has to do with a manufacturing process for Apple's MacBook and MacBook Pro lines of laptops. Apple will build the notebook out of a single piece of carved-out aluminum-a brick." Later in that same article, Businessweek referred to a July 22 quote from ...

First there was the Bold. Then came the Pearl Flip. Now, Fans of Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry devices should expect to hear more about the Apex, Javelin and Niagara in the next coming months, according to a popular Gadget blog. The Boy Genius Report, whose knack for providing exclusive details of upcoming cellphones and other electronic goods, revealed a whack of new information on RIM’s upcoming product cycle launches , likely enraging some of the brass at RIM's headquarters in Waterloo, Ont. So, what exactly are these devices? According to the leaked documents, “Apex” is the codename for the CDMA version of the Pearl Flip, the “Javelin” is a next-generation EDGE product launching in the fall of 2008 and the “Niagara” appears to be the CDMA version of the 8830 enterprise world phone. Another codename, “Meteor,” appears to be the already-released BlackBerry Bold. Then there’s the “Thunder” or as it likely appears to be called the “Storm”, RIM’s touchscreen answer to Apple Inc.’s iPhone. BGR posted leaked images of the Storm’s user manual and internal marketing documents in extensive detail, which makes one wonder how long until RIM’s lawyers issue cease-and-desist letters to the Web site’s owners. Interestingly enough, the BlackBerry Storm is said to support cut-and-paste functionality , one of the main gripes of iPhone users whose devices conspiculously do not have the feature. The BGR also uncovered details of a BlackBer ...

Sling Media just started shipping the Slingbox Pro-HD , and DVICE has its Gadget-loving hands all over it. We've been Fans of Slingboxes since the beginning, relishing their ability to stream home video sources like cable or satellite TV (even DVR'd programs) anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. As you might expect from the name, the Pro-HD adds high-def video to the Slingbox experience, and it really works. Mostly. But HD isn't the only upgrade. The new Slingbox also throws in a new program guide and DVR-like abilities such as pausing and rewinding. For our test, we graded the Slingbox in three ways: streaming HD video (both at home and to a remote location), the new program guide, and its DVR abilities. Click Continue for all the details. 1a. Slinging HD at Home The greatest thrill of this $300 box is hooking it up to an HD source (1080i) such as a TiVo Series3 HD personal video recorder , and then playing your HD recordings at full resolution on a PC in another room in your home. We loaded the new Sling Player 2.0 software that comes with the Pro-HD on three PCs here on our network. Two of them could smoothly play nice-looking HD with the audio perfectly synced. The oldest PC, a 2.13GHz Pentium M laptop from three years ago, stumbled on the HD playback, while a desktop machine with a pair of old Xeon processors played it with only a few dropped frames, as did a year-old HP laptop running Vista on a dual-core Athl ...

Fans of Star Trek, whether Trekkie or Trekker or whatever, can debate about the new cast of Star Trek, written and directed by JJ Abrams, they can fret about movie plot details which are harder to come by than design specs on a nuclear sub. But one thing the Fans can really look forward to are the coolest gadgets which will take center stage when the Enterprise goes to warp later this year. The biggest Gadget, of course, is NCC 1701 itself. Nobody really knows what the Enterprise will look like, save for the priviledged few who have had a chance to see a rough cut. But they aren’t saying anything. But in addition to the Enterprise itself, Abrams promises that the old standbys such as the transporter, phaser, communicator, tricorder and more will not only come back in all their glory, but Fans should be thrilled with how they are portrayed. And Abrams is sensitive to the Fans, but also wants to court new Fans to a franchise that even he admits made him a trekkie (or trekker … oh never mind). ““If you do the bridge of the Enterprise, what does it look like? Does Uhura has the piece in her, or does she not? And if she does, what does it look like? If they have tricorders, what do they look like? Phasers, how do you go from stun to kill, and does anything happen? What does the whole fleet look like? I’m telling you, every day, we were figuring this out, how do we take what we know and love and ‘Star Trek’ and apply it to a modern audie ...
