Yesterday I received an e-mail from pajama man, Alibi contributing writer and my, uh, really good friend, Mark Chavez. He reported that the boys received five stars and a glowing review in the London Times . This is a milestone for the http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=75710634&MyToken=8845bc87-c975-4465-8bbe-c59991623304hometown double act, currently in Scotland performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s largest theater festival. The Chavez also reports that they got a little New York Times press after an interesting turn of events. Mark’s brother, Chris Chavez, seeing that " Frugal Traveler," columnist, Matt Gross, was headed to Edinburgh, recommended via reader comment that he see The Pajama Men. Gross actually went to the show and wrote about them in his Edinburgh column. Awesome! You guys are corn-tastic! ... Source: watchmojo.com --- 29 days ago
Check out this account of Amsterdam, but the New York Times’ Frugal Traveler: Early last Friday evening, the sky over Amsterdam turned a cold indigo, and the uncurtained light from shops and homes glowed a vibrant yellow. A breeze rippled the water of the canals, where a few couples were enjoying the sun’s fading rays, while [...] ... Source: watchmojo.com --- 8 days ago
Here’s something I never would have thought of: Matt Gross is the New York Times’ travel writer, also known as the Frugal Traveler. He’s written an essay about life as a travel writer - a married one, in fact, which I wouldn’t have necessarily expected to make a difference. But here’s why it does: One [...] ... Living simply means living well -- living abundantly -- and a jewel of an example lies within the pages (or screens) of the New York Times, with its Frugal Traveler blog . First, it's much simpler to read the New York Times online than it is to purchase the print version. Cheaper, easier on the trees. Second, Matt Gross, the Frugal Traveler, really knows his stuff. Check out his current Grand Tour of Europe on a Budget -- he's covering Europe over 12 weeks this summer, and on a budget of less than 100 euros a day (or 156 dollars). His average daily total thus far has been $143.53 -- not the cheapest vacation for some simplifiers, but heck. It's EUROPE. On June 18th, Matt Gross was in Rome . He's staying at a beautiful convent (found at MonasteryStays.com ); he's drinking 70 cent macchiato (yes, that is 70 cents, take that Starbucks); and having fresh, delicious Northern Italian meals (roast veal, zucchini, beer) for 14 euros. It's nice to read and daydream about ... travel can be done, and done well, on a budget. Even Europe. Even Rome. ... Find more results for Frugal Traveler on RSSMicro.com |
