In Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer , Brooks (played with athletic, affable charm by Trevor Matthews ) is a young man with anger management issues. Small wonder considering he watched his entire family get eaten by a troll-like creature in the woods when he was a boy. He's now in his 20s and a plumber by trade but taking a night school class in science, taught by a professor played by none other than Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund . The professor unearths a crate in his backyard containing a skeleton with a live heart which possesses him and transforms him into a Jabba-the-Hutt-like toothy creature with tentacles. It's then up to Jack to channel his rage in a more productive way to save the other students. Directed by Jon Knautz , this is a compulsively enjoyable wild ride -- with old school prosthetic special effects and lots of testosterone to spare.
