Colorado Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis was activated from the 15-day disabled list in time to start Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals. The 27-year-old lefty had been sidelined for over a month with inflammation in his left shoulder. After having a remarkable 2007 season, this campaign has not been good for Francis thus far. He has posted a 3-7 record with a 5.67 earned run average in 17 games. He went 1-0 with an ERA of 0.63 in three rehab starts with Double-A Tulsa. Francis was 17-9 with a 4.22 ERA last year for the National League champion Rockies. In Memory of Francis Varnell "Mac" McKenzie Francis Varnell "Mac" McKenzie, 86, passed away August 27, 2008.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Addie Dora McKenzie.  He worked as a Hydro Plant Operator for Florida Power for 30 years. He was born in Sanborn, Florida and lived in this area his entire life. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.  He loved the outdoors.  He was a fishing guide at the age of 7 years old and as a young man he was a commercial fisherman.  He was raised at Silver Lake Fish Camp which his parents owned.  He loved his family very much. Donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL  32308-5862. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Smith Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville. Chambliss takes over for Jonathan Holmes, who left for a similar position at William & Mary. Chambliss played at Penn State before transferring to Wisconsin.
