http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/w...red_on_fox.html "Microsoft Mobile Communications Group Manager Scott Rockfeld was on Fox Business chatting up quite a lot of Windows Mobile devices. The context of the discussion is basically 'competitors to the iPhone,' which is a little aggravating because, let's face it, the iPhone and Windows Mobile aren't always going for the same demographic. Some of the smartphones shown off: HTC Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, and the BlackJack II." I've watched this video several times, mostly because the Touch Diamond looked so swanky in it, but also because I thought Scott Rockfeld, Microsoft Mobile Communications Group Manager, handled himself brilliantly. Scott came out swinging showing off some of the more popular Windows Mobile 6.1 devices on the market, including the HTC touch Diamond, and was really hammering home that the Windows Mobile platform is all about choice. This seems to tie in exactly with all of the recent talk on the Internet of Microsoft’s new "Windows Not Walls" campaign. On top of that you throw in the fact that every device featured in this segment has sold over a million or more devices it starts to make a lot of the recent Apple sales hype start to look a little sad. Microsoft builds fantastic products but unfortunately they're not the best when it comes to feeding the publicity machine. One of the biggest hurdles for Windows Mobile has always been lack of visibility in the public’s eye ...

During the August 28 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends , Fox News contributor Mike Huckabee falsely claimed of Sen. Barack Obama's health-care plan: "[W]hen I hear about, you know, his plans for health care, what it means is not so much that everybody is going to have it, but we're going to be rationing it, and the government will be in control." Huckabee's claim echoed Sen. John McCain's false attack on Obama's health-care plan. In fact, as The New York Times reported in a May 3 article , Obama's plan does not call for the government to take over the health-care system in America and "ration[] it." Indeed, a Q&A about the proposal on Obama's website specifically states: "[Y]ou will not have to change plans": Q. I like my current insurance coverage. Will I have to change plans? A. No, you will not have to change plans. For those who have insurance now, nothing will change under the Obama plan -- except that you will pay less. Obama's plan will save a typical family up to $2,500 on premiums by bringing the health care system into the 21st century: cutting waste, improving technology, expanding coverage to all Americans, and paying for some high-cost cases. Huckabee also claimed: "I think that the best hope for America is cutting taxes, not raising them, as Obama would propose to do. That's really going to hurt small Business. Let's not talk about taxing the wealthy; that's not what the issue is. It's taxing small Business operator ...

From the looks of it, Canoe Ventures, cable's grand plan to make a Web-like TV advertising offering, doesn't yet have both paddles in the water. The NYT points out that the cable operators involved, Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC), Cox, Cablevision (CVC), etc, has launched a new TV channel, Elections '08 On Demand, as a proving ground for Canoe, as well as to show they "can work together well." But this first effort seems like a strong argument for not working together at all. Apparently, the channel has been around since January, but you'd never know it; the channel is in 32 million households (almost as many as Fox Business !), but on obscure channel positions like channel 1279 on Time Warner. The cablers rolled it out to attempt to recreate YouTube's popular political channel with on-demand videos from candidates. Each cable company committed to airing at least 100 promos a week for the network, but only 500,000 segments have been viewed since January. That's compared to more than 5 million views on Barack Obama's YouTube channel over the last month. Candidates are being approached to advertise--and presumably they're able to provide some level of targeting within electoral districts. But this lacks the key ingredient that all advertisers--even politicians--want: viewers. And who would advertise on a channel no one can find with a paltry offering not nearly as engaging as YouTube or Yahoo? More to the point, what's thi ...

In any case, it's a good watch to learn about the message that's getting out to folks who don't, you know, read blogs like WMExperts.com. Turns out such people are out there; we find it strange as well. via ...
