We tested the hypothesis that H. pylori infections involve the activation of Akt signaling in human gastric epithelial cancer cells. Immunoblot, immunofluorescence and kinase assays shows that H. pylori infection of gastric epithelial cells induced phosphorylation of Akt at Ser 473 and Thr 308. Mutations in the H. pylori virulence factor OipA dramatically reduced phosphorylation of Ser 473; while the cag pathogenicity island (PAI) mutants predominantly inhibited phosphorylation of Thr 308. As the downstream of Akt activation, H. pylori infection inactivated the inactivation of glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3beta) at Ser 9 by its phosphorylation. As the upstream of Akt activation, H. pylori infection activated EGFR at Tyr 992, PI3K p85 subunit, and PI3K dependent kinase (PDK1) at Ser 241. Kitase told GameSpot early last month that the 360 Version wouldn't go into full production until the PS3 one was complete and burned to Blu-ray. Worried for the development of Final Fantasy XIII now that it's gone multi-platform? Chill. The game's development has not been delayed (for the PS3 at least). In fact, the game's scenario is already complete, and the artistic side is 80 done, according to an interview with the game's execs from the latest Official PlayStation Magazine Australia . According to the game's execs, development for the Xbox 360 won't even start until the PlayStation 3 Version is already burned unto Blu-ray discs. That's good news for those who were worried that the PS3 Version of the game will be reduced to match the size constraints of the Xbox 360. Of course, that doesn't mean that the Xbox 360 would be shortchanged. According to producer Yoshinori Kitase: Because it is coming to two platforms, there might be some fans that are worried it may become generic, so that it will fit onto both consoles, but the PS3 Version is what is in development right now and the team is looking to specialise it for the PS3 so that the game is maximised, and then they will port it over to the 360 and full utilise the capabilities of that console. We're trying to use the hardware to the max for both consoles, so there will be no decrease in quality with it going to both platforms. The execs talk on more interesting things, like how the game pursued a more sci-fi feel rather than the traditional fantasy vibe (though Final Sci-Fi doesn't sound as catchy).
