It might be called the “sprinters' classics,” but Paris-Tours is a race where opportunists can have their way. The French fall classic has often tipped in favor of attackers who’ve foiled the best-laid plans of the sprinters, with such riders as Frédéric Guesdon (2006) and Erik Dekker (2004) winning thanks to strong late-race tactics. With the 102nd edition of Paris-Tours on tap Sunday, there will be plenty of protagonists looking to pad their palamares in what’s the last major ... read more ... This is the second of three songs in tribute to my father who passed away recently. It's my cover of Through the barricades, originally by Spandau ballet. If you didn't know what it was about, I'll tell you. It's about the troubles in Northern Ireland. See what you think. I mentioned I was going to say a few things about my dad's life, and so I will. I only know a small part of what happened in his life. Still there's enough to mention that will astonish even the most resolute. My Dad. Part 1 I'll start with the simple stuff. He was born in a place called Hammersmith, in West London. His mother Lily was a wonderful person, but the same could not be said of his father. He was an Irish waiter. The dad used to beat his mother whilst John was there. It isn't any surprise that he despised his memory. He didn't stick around for long. His brothers and sisters all share a different surname to him. Fortunately they had a better father. As a youngster he used to get into lots of trouble. This was just a sign of what was to come in the future. Just a sign though. Some of the individuals he met in life ended up quite successful, and some of those achieved fame. John enlisted into the Navy as a teenager. Although his service lasted less than four years, due to his dismissal. He got a reputation for fighting, and as a gambling man, he used to set up fighting fixtures with side betting. During his service, and many fights, he managed to g ... I became a Bob Dylan fan this year (2008) when he was in Spain, though I've not been in any Concert. It just happened. I think his vibration was just "blowing in the wind". I listened to Bob Dylan since I was 15 years old and I always liked him, but know is different....It touches me more deep the way he sings some old songs now. Before he used to "scream" some songs in the way a young person wil say it, but now (in some songs) he says things in a different way, more mature, with more tenderness. Plugged or unplugged? Both. Favorite album : "TIME OUT OF MIND" Favorite album cover: Time out of mind Favorite song: The album "Time out of mind" . For me the whole album is only one song and it is Bob Dylan's Masterpiece. Favorite lyric: Your cracked country lips, I still wish to kiss, As to be by the touch of your skin. Your magnetic movements Still capture the minutes I'm in. Favorite Dylan cover: Time out of mind. I think it shows what the song-album is about....something is behind and something is up in front and he is in between looking forward. My top five (would need on the desert island) discs: "Time out of mind", Highway 61, The freewheelin, Pat Gerret, Anotherside of Bob Dylan. Favorite Dylan film: Renaldo & Clara (not the film but the performances) Best live recording: Hard Rain Best boots: .......Bootlegs Vol 6 Best concert I ever saw... never been to one Favorite quote: Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain ... He did really well — the [...] ... Source: blog.celebritystyleguide.com --- 8 days ago
