The Blacks not only escaped a long ER wait, they found a new medical home. For three months this summer, Dallas Family Medicine tried an all-night schedule to serve patients whose schedules don't mesh with the typical 8 to 5 office hours. Robinson, who owns the Practice, is on the extreme edge of a movement among primary care providers to expand their hours in response to consumer demand. “I think this is the way of the future,” said Robinson, 41, who grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Duke University's physician assistant program. “Kids always get sick after the office closes. People get sick when they get sick.” Robinson recently scaled back. Instead of staying open all night on weekdays, he's now working until midnight – or longer if needy patients call or stop by.
