Prelims finally over!  I can now stop cramming on making Exam questions, and focus on doing stupid things in the computer.  Okay, so maybe I still have to check those papers, but still, hard part over. I can't really say I make great exams, but I think it's not so bad.  I hate people who make "tamad" Exam questions.  You know, the type where it's all objective.  Memory skills yo!   I'm not saying it's bad, I just think for our level, we need more than that because the expectations are higher. I can't really say that I'm an expert in making exams.  I'm not.  I lack the experience for one.  I've only been teaching college for two semesters.  But there are some basic tenets that I follow when making one. First thing first, what exactly are your objectives for that grading period.  There are different levels of knowledge , which one are you aiming to address?  That would basically be the framework of your questions.  Then you choose what type of Exam would you like to do.  The easiest would be identification, enumeration, and matching type.  True/false is slightly more difficult to make because you don't want the answers to be so blantantly obvious.  For me the hardest is multiple choice.  Coming up with questions, in my case, cases/scenarios, is just half the work.  There's 4 choices you have to give out.  Choices that ought to make them stop and think before randomly picking an answer. There are rules to follow when writing these choices ...

Pupils may longer have to sit a formal Exam on the work of Shakespeare, following the trialling of a new curriculum. Key stage three students at around 400 schools in England will be assessed on the basis of performances and essays. Teachers would grade them based on their understanding of the plays as part of the pilot of the new style of Sats. The proposed scrapping of tests on the playwright's work comes after the government announced that Shakespeare will be taught to children as young as five. And the plans have faced criticism from Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Michael Gove MP, who accused Labour of 'politically correct meddling'. 'The father of English literature is being downgraded yet again,' he added. When announcing the new Shakespeare initiative last week, the government said that a new support package called Shakespeare For All Ages and Stages will be sent to schools throughout England. ...

Doctors find no new cardiac difficulties with vice president WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney got good news Saturday from doctors who said his heart was beating normally for a 67-year-old man who has had four heart attacks."The vice president's cardiac status remains stable," Cheney press secretary Megan Mitchell said after the nearly two-hour annual checkup. Doctors at George Washington University Hospital gave Cheney a physical Exam and an electrocardiogram, which is a test that detects and records the electrical activity of the heart, Mitchell said. They also took images of stents that were placed in arteries in the back of his knees when Cheney underwent surgery in September 2005 to repair an arterial aneurysm. Last year's checkup was not as good for Cheney, who has had quadruple bypass surgery and two artery-clearing angioplasties. At that Exam on June 8, 2007, doctors found no new blockages in his heart from the year before, but said he needed a new battery for a special pacemaker he has in his chest. The vice president had surgery the following month to replace the implanted device that monitors his heartbeat. Then, in November 2007, doctors had to administer an electrical shock to Cheney's heart to restore it to a normal rhythm. The irregular heartbeat was determined to be atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart. At this most recent checkup, doctors found that Cheney had no ...
