Thank you ,Heresgeo ,for your very specific directions how to solve this problem. I will certainly try this option and get back to you on the results. I do not understand why the Microsoft people at their Update service could not come up with an answer. Their way of solving this issue was to remove SQL server from my computer. I really apreciate the help. Removing SQL from my computer did not seem the right answer. It was obviously put there for a purpose. I am not so computer literate to figure out why I need SQL, but if it was on my computer it is there for a purpose. This has been a most frustrating experience. Hi, Have recently started getting the above Error Code for any Office 2007 updates (all appear to be security updates starting with the KB951596-related update which was issued on 12th August. There are now 6 updates all with the same problem. I have Office 2007 ultimate and am trying to install on Vista 32 bit (SP1). All other MS updates install correctly. I've searched for help on this (and not found much) - just to say that I have tried the suggestions in the KB article 913754 and have also tried downloading and installing the updates separately. I have also tried doing this in safe mode - all to no avail. Please let me know if there's any other additional info needed to start to address this (I run Kaspersky 2009 and it's clearly set to allow appropriate access for these downloads). ANY help appreciated - I've drawn a blank (and I'm NOT a techie-whizz, so please respond without making that assumption!!). Thanks Huw ...

Sorry to say mrzolf you have not answer the question that was put out. This is a very prominent problem with these community discussion people only run off at the keyboard and say nothing. No where in this setting have anyone answered the question. What's the solution to the getting the sp3 installed after the Error Code 0x80200010. I keep getting this Error Code when trying to install Security Update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (KB956500). I've tried searching Microsoft for help but with no results. I only have Windows Firewall running so I'm assuming that won't be blocking the installation. I've tried downloading the update .exe file and that fails too. Obviously, I've tried things like rebooting and running the update before opening any applications - same result. Can anyone help, please? ...

One thing which I had (and after that the message stopped) was I found I had a "Generic Monitor" listed in Device Manager. I installed the manufacturers provided Driver software from disk for that, and I don't remember the message subsequently.
