A picture says a thousand words, but look at Cara Correnti-Moore’s and only one word comes to mind: success. A former Billerica resident, she was nominated for an Emmy for her story on Lucy’s Café by the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13.   Q: What was the piece which you received the Emmy Nomination for? A: It is a Nomination for general assignment reporting, we turned it (the story) in in one day. It’s a story about Lucy’s Café, a family-owned restaurant in Hershey, Penn. The family had closed the restaurant and was in the process of selling when it caught fire, destroyed the place. We were there the next morning when the crews were leveling the place. It had been in the family for decades. The owner had proposed to his wife on the steps of the place. It had lot of memories. It had closed two weeks before the fire, and the sale was not finalized at the time. They knew it wouldn’t be theirs, but to see it destroyed by fire, they were not prepared for that. It was tough. Anytime I have these stories it hits a little closer to home. I can understand how when he stood there and saw nothing, it was tough for him.   Q: What is the station you work for? A: I work for a TV station, WHTM ABC 27, out of Harrisburg Penn. I’ve worked for them for almost a year. I anchor news on weekend and report news three days a week.   Q: What was you reaction wh ...

Actor David Morse didn’t realize he was a dead ringer for George Washington until he saw a portrait hanging on the set of the HBO miniseries ``John Adams.''     ``I thought ‘that’s a great picture of Washington.’ Then I realized it was me. It was really mind-blowing,'' said Morse, who is nominated for a Supporting Actor Emmy for his role as the country’s first president.   Also nominated in that category are Morse’s co-stars, Stephen Dillane (Thomas Jefferson) and Tom Wilkinson (Benjamin Franklin).   The Emmy Awards ceremony will be held Sunday and broadcast at 8 p.m. on ABC.     HBO’s historical drama ``John Adams,'' is the Emmy Nomination front-runner with a record 23 bids. That includes a lead-actor Nomination for Paul Giamatti and a lead-actress Nomination for Laura Linney, who plays the part of Abigail Adams.  The series is based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning Adams biographer David McCullough.    Morse, who is from Hamilton,   found out he was nominated for an Emmy while  in Bangkok, Thailand.    ``It’s a very pleasing thing. It’s great company to be in with those other guys from ‘John Adams.’ I’m mostly happy for everybody that gets nominated, like Paul and Laura. That makes me happier than anything.''     Morse will walk the red carpet Sunday at the Nokia Theatre  in Los Angeles with his wife Susan, but he won’t be dressed in Armani or Versace like many other celebrities.     ``Wouldn’t that be nice? My manager was tryin ...

Emmy can be fickle. She often rewards first-time nominees in a category while leaving other performers forever in the wings. Suffering their third defeats this year were Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer") and Hugh Laurie ("House"). Neither could have been heartened by the Emmycast appearance of six-time lead actor nominee Martin Sheen (2000–2005, 2007), who reminded us that he never won for "The West Wing." Meantime, all of these stars won this year for their first acting nominations: Zeljko Ivanek (supporting actor in a drama series, "Damages"), Paul Giamatti (best TV movie actor, "John Adams") and Eileen Atkins (best supporting actress in a TV movie/mini, "Cranford"). Among those Ivanek defeated was "Damages" co-star Ted Danson, who had to wait till Nomination No. 8 before he won best actor in a comedy series for "Cheers" in 1990. Perhaps that can be of some comfort to Sandra Oh ("Grey's Anatomy"), who just lost her fourth consecutive bid for best supporting actress in a drama series this year. And on the comedy front, lead actor contenders Steve Carell ("The Office") and Charlie Sheen ("Two and a Half Men") weren't laughing at becoming three-time losers, as did Sheen's supporting players Jon Cryer and Holland Taylor. In our forums, frequent poster Noble kicked off an interesting discussion on this year's perennial runners-up and reminded us of others who left the airwaves without ever winning. Sure, Bryan Cranston finally won this y ...
