A quick search in YouTube for the term "John McCain" yields a results Page filled with McCain-bashing videos including: • McCain's YouTube Problem Just Became a Nightmare • David Letterman Reacts to John McCain Suspending Campaign • John McCain vs John McCain - Get off the double talk express All 20 of the first 20 user-uploaded YouTube results are negative. In stark contrast, the top 20 YouTube results for the search term "Barack Obama" are all positive. The " Yes We Can " music video is still going strong, his speeches and interviews are in high demand, and his dancing moves on the Ellen Degeneres Show have attracted over 2 million views. McCain's top 20 videos, all of them potentially damaging, have been viewed 21 million times. Obama's top 20 videos, all favorable and brand-building, have been viewed 47 million times. So what's the McCain team doing wrong? As with the Hillary Clinton team's comparative marketing failures , the McCain web strategists are combining an outdated strategy of tight control with a woeful neglect of Web 2.0 tools. Now that the national attention on Bristol Palin's pregnancy is fading (for the time being) it seems the only discussion it inspired was about John McCain's vetting process and, by extension, his decision-making abilities. But there is another far more important subject raised by the 17-year-old's pregnancy. For decades, teen pregnancy has been viewed as a problem, a danger to the children of young mothers and a hurdle to the success of the adolescent mothers. But recent public displays of contraceptive failure by girls of visibility and means gives the misleading appearance that teen motherhood might be a lifestyle upgrade. Clearly one of the exacerbating factors is that someone like Bristol Palin is part of what feels like a growing trend: the normalizing of teen pregnancy and teen motherhood in the United States. Bristol is not alone in suggesting that to be a 17-year-old mother is not only acceptable, but exciting. Last year Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney's then 16-year-old sister, had her baby. (The Spears', it's worth noting, were proponents of abstinence-only too.) Last year also featured the movie Juno, in which star Ellen Page played a 16-year-old whose quick-wit and sarcasm made her unwanted pregnancy seem as challenging as a bad case of acne. Not since Michael Moore’s documentary “Roger and Me” has the Great Lakes state garnered so much attention from Hollywood. Once considered a relative backwater as a film destination, Michigan has lured more than 60 features and made-for-TV movies this year, up from just three last year , according to the Michigan Film Office. The projects include upcoming films as well as recently-wrapped movies such as Clint Eastwood’s "Gran Torino," a drama about at Korean War vet who befriends his young neighbor; "Whip It!," a Drew Barrymore-directed comedy starring Ellen Page of "Juno" fame; and the sci-fi thriller "Butterfly Effect: Revelation" (pictured above). Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures all have films lined up to shoot in Michigan this fall. Under Michigan's program, producers get 40 cents back for every $1 they spend on filming (double the existing rebate) and qualify for an additional 2% spending rebate if the film is shot in designated "core communities," including Detroit and Flint.
