Berkley has volunteered her time facilitating Ask-Elizabeth workshops in schools and for organizations around the country for 2 1⁄2 years. Her Web site, Ask-Elizabeth.com, features a library of video content intended to help empower girls worldwide. The MTV project, with the working title "Ask-Elizabeth," is being developed in the network's News & Docs division. Amy Bailey, vp development in the department, said Berkley approached MTV with the idea. "She does these workshops around the country with teen girls and gets them to really open up about their issues, like self-esteem and body issues," Bailey said. "We had been looking for a program that tackled the same issues, so it seemed like a perfect match." MTV is hoping to shoot the pilot in the fall, Bailey said. "It'll be more than just films of her workshops," Bailey said, adding that Berkley will be featured in the project while her husband will remain behind the scenes. "It'll probably be more verite, where we'll film with Elizabeth and girls around the country in their own hometowns and watch as the events unfold." After guest appearances on CSI: Miami and Law & Order: Criminal Intent , Elizabeth Berkley is ditching the procedurals and heading over to Showtime . The former Saved by the Bell star will be joining Jennifer Beals , her costar in the 2002 film Roger Dodger , on Showtime's The L-Word for a multi-episode arc. Word is, Berkley's L-Word character has a history with Jennifer Beals' Bette. The two went to college together and Berkley was the straight girl who got away. Perhaps Bette will have better luck the second time around. My only hope for this pairing is that they can somehow manage to fit a Flashdance: What a Feeling / I'm So Excited dance-off into the plot of the show, thus bringing together the high points of both of these women's careers and officially making this the best casting decision ever. That's a pretty nice run for any show, cable or network. If you're experiencing preemptive disappointment over the thought of losing the show, rest easy. As we heard at the TCAs , Ilene Chaiken, creator and executive producer of the show, has been signed to write and produce a pilot for an L Word spinoff. Even better, we now know that Leisha Hailey has been brought in to star. She plays Alice, and would have easily been my pick for the character to spin off. The Showtime press release doesn't contain any details about what Chaiken has planned for Alice in the new series. We do know that she will take a storyline from season six and continue it as internet-only content. If the pilot goes forward to series, the online component will segue into the new show. I would add, if there is any way to bring back Erica Cerra, I'd be all for that. You can never have too much Erica Cerra on your television. Showtime's press release is after the jump. Starting next week, some of CBS' long-running favorites like "CSI: Miami," "Criminal Intent" and "Cold Case" return for their season premiere episodes. Here's what you can expect when you tune in: Sept. 22 -- "CSI: Miami" Last season ended with an image of Horatio Caine (David Caruso), he of the desperately serious dialogue delivery and the trademark sunglasses, on the ground in a pool of his own blood. Does he survive? Well, I can't give that away, but you will get your answer in the season premiere. The CSIers try to find the shooter, and as usual, facing a little in-house in-fighting.
