ECI Telecom, a global provider of networking infrastructure, has signed a three-year deal with Danish utilities firm Elro to deploy an integrated WiMAX network across Denmark. The network will be used by Elro - which was granted a national WiMAX licence last year - to provide voice and broadband internet services at part of its SkyLine service. ECI will work on the project alongside WiMAX and wireless broadband provider Alvarion - which will supply the WiMAX equipment and ethernet - and TDM wireless backhaul solutions firm Ceragon Networks, which will provide the wireless backhaul systems. Soren Moller, CTO Broadband at Elro, said: "By integrating best-of-breed solutions, ECI allows us to benefit from a cost-optimised, one-stop-shop for simplified administration, maintenance and provisioning coupled with a single point-of-contact for integration and interoperability." The rollout of the network, which will be managed under ECI's LightSoft Network Manager, will begin in the area of Randers and it is expected to be completed by 2010. Last month ECI Telecom was selected to provide the solution for US firm South Central Communication's fibre transport network with its Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) and its Converged Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP).
