Photo: Getty Images In a New Jersey divorce-court ruling unsealed today, it was revealed that former governor Jim Mcgreevey will be obligated to shell out only a lump sum of $109,295 to his ex-wife Dina Matos, and $1,075 a month in child support for their daughter, Jacqueline, 6. The larger figure represents half of the couple's shared investment accounts. Matos will also get a payout from Mcgreevey's pension plan, but she'll have to give him a portion of her own 401K. After an incredibly public, ugly, and drawn-out divorce battle, both of them will be responsible for their own legal fees — estimated by the Post to be about $500,000 each. That's by far the largest sum floating around in this whole mess. Matos asked for nearly $1 million, but since Mcgreevey argued that he only makes $48,000 per year while he is in seminary, the judge ruled him "underemployed." Judge Karen Cassidy reamed out the pair in her written ruling: "Especially, in a matter as high profile as this, the court was disappointed that much of the testimony, particularly as it related to public figures within the State of New Jersey, and the dirty laundry associated therewith, needed to be aired in the public and in the press … The McGreeveys clearly had agendas. As previously addressed, their anger seemed to override any ability to testify credibly or to be reasonable." Those harsh words, and the sting of the small payout Mcgreevey has to shell out, will probably ling ...

Judge Karen Cassidy issued a ruling in the Mcgreevey divorce trial today. In it, she ordered both parties to abide by the sealed custody and visitation terms they agreed to in early May with regard to their daughter. She also ruled that Jim Mcgreevey has no alimony obligation to his wife Dina Matos Mcgreevey (he had argued he was too poor to afford it ) and that both parties would pay their own health insurance costs. The former Governor was ordered to pay $250 a week in child support. Matos Mcgreevey had asked for $2,500 a month alimony for four years and $1,750 a month in child support. Mcgreevey was also ordered to pay his wife just over $108,000, representing half of his financial assets. He was not ordered to pay her any of his earnings from his book The Confession . In her opinion, Judge Cassidy noted that both parties had overriding motivations that clouded the claims in their trial: "The McGreeveys clearly had agendas. As previously addressed, their anger seemed to override any ability to testify credibly or to be reasonable. For example, Mr. Mcgreevey’s steadfast position that he was somehow unable to obtain employment contradicted directly with his position that he was actively attending seminary and pursuing a full-time program. Clearly, he cannot do both, but he somehow could not simply say that, instead contradicting himself over and over again. When faced with facts that he could not even support himself on his curre ...

Former New Jersey Gov. James E. Mcgreevey doesn't have to pay alimony to his ex-wife, a judge ruled Friday in granting the couple's divorce after a tumultuous marriage that crumbled publicly when Mcgreevey acknowledged he was a "gay American." A superior court judge ruled that Mcgreevey, the nation's first openly gay governor, must pay $250 a week, or $1,075 a month, in child support for his 6-year-old daughter with Dina Matos. Matos had asked for $2,500 a month alimony for four years and $1,750 a month in child support. The couple share custody of the girl. Mcgreevey, now a seminary student, testified during the couple's contentious divorce trial that he is too poor to pay alimony. The couple formally separated in February 2005, shortly after Mcgreevey resigned as governor. In her written ruling, Union County Superior Court Judge Karen Cassidy lamented the anger and animosity she witnessed during the couple's divorce trial. "Especially, in a matter as high profile as this, the court was disappointed that much of the testimony, particularly as it related to public figures within the State of New Jersey, and the dirty laundry associated therewith, needed to be aired in the public and in the press," Cassidy wrote. "The McGreeveys clearly had agendas. As previously addressed, their anger seemed to override any ability to testify credibly or to be reasonable." Cassidy ruled that Matos is not entitled to assets from Mcgreevey's tell-al ...

The nation's first openly gay governor has a reason to smile this afternoon. Former New Jersey Governor Jim Mcgreevey's divorce from Dina Matos-Mcgreevey is finalized, and the judge decided that Jim doesn't have to pay Dina any alimony. Mcgreevey must pay $250 a week, or $1,075 a month, in child support for his 6-year-old daughter with Dina Matos. The couple has joint custody. Dina wanted $2,500 a month alimony for four years and $1,750 a month in child support. The couple share custody of the girl. Jim told the court he couldn't afford that as he is now a seminary student. The McGreeveys called it quits after Jim came out of the closet in the midst of a gay scandal. He resigned from office and later separated from his wife. Jim said Dina knew he was gay all along. ...

I would have found the entire divorce drama between Jim Mcgreevey and Dina Matos Mcgreevey a lot more entertaining if it were not for their young daughter who must be connected to these two wretched people for the rest of her life. You know Jim, right? He's the former New Jersey guv who came out as a "gay American" and resigned from office. His resignation seemed to have far more to do with unscrupulous things he did in office than being gay but coming out, writing a book and going on Oprah kinda overshadowed that. Dina is the woman whio smiled stupidly at him as he declared himself gay, said she was clueless about it then got mad when he got a rich boyfriend and has been fighting him for ever nickel in divorce court. Judge Karen Cassidy today ruled that Jim Mcgreevey pay his ex-wife $108, 000 which is half of his savings, Dina gets no alimony. Here's in part what the judge said about these people in her opinion: "The McGreeveys clearly had agendas. As previously addressed, their anger seemed to override any ability to testify credibly or to be reasonable." They are both losers in this, racking a combined $1 million or so in legal bills trying to tear each other down. Idtiots. ...
