Remember back when I was in LA for the TCA's and I cried like a little baby during the finale of " Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods " and blamed it on the fact that I hadn't been home for three weeks, hadn't had much sleep, drank too much from the open bars and was going stir crazy from hardly stepping foot outside of the Beverly Hills Hilton? Well, that wasn't entirely true. All of the above was having an effect on my state of sanity, but let's be honest, I'm kind of an easy crier when it comes to emotional television. Someone realizes all their hopes and dreams are coming true? I cry. Sarah McLaughlin tells me to adopt a pet from my local shelter while holding a one-eyed Lhasa Apso? I cry, hard. A kid who's been Deaf since birth gets a cochlear implant and can hear the wind for the first time? Losing it here! Last night, I caught a rerun of MTV's " True Life: I'm Deaf ," and I just sat on my bed and wept silent happy tears for 60 minutes as Christopher, 16, from Vernon, NJ and Amanda, 21, from Towson University in Towson, Maryland navigated their respective lives as a hearing-impaired people. Like I said above, Chris has been Deaf his whole life. He doesn't speak because he's embarrassed about the way his voice sounds, so he communicates through sign language. He feels left out at school because the kids who can hear don't want to be bothered with learning sign language. Ultimately, Chris decides to get a co ...

Deaf children attending mainstream schools will be able to benefit from a new set of resources provided by the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS). Teachers can access the Deaf Friendly Teachers' Training Pack from September that is designed to help educational professionals include Deaf pupils into mainstream teaching techniques. NDCS education development manager Lorna Simpson added that a Starting schools pack is also available, which will guide teachers through every stage of the school system for Deaf children. 'We urge teaching professionals to take advantage of our new free resources which will equip them with the knowledge and skills to enable the full inclusion of Deaf children at school,' she said.
