A Bad Situationist directed by Sam Seder, stars Jon Benjamin, David Cross, Sarah Silverman, Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron, Ross Brockley and Sam Seder. Screens at Netroots Nation on Thursday night. I took over one thousand photos of my tv during the ongoing television coverage of the theft of the 2000 election. Photos of chads, brooksbrother riots, Florida Supreme Court Justices and dry erase boards. Lexapro would have probably helped more, but hindsight is 20/20. Sometime around the inauguration of the dry drunk, when I regained feeling in my ass I had been sitting on for weeks, I began to notice that there was not the slightest hint of outrage expressed in or by the media. To read any paper or watch any tv was to believe there was no discontent amongst the public, nor shock amongst legal scholars. We were all to believe that there were no implications to the injustice of a Supreme Court decision so incongruous that its authors notified future generations that their finding was just a one off- this case is not meant to set any precedent. The media's only reaction was somewhere along the lines of "phew, I can finally take that vacation to Aspen now" and "shit, that was good for ratings". Personally, I was getting angrier that the dissent I knew existed had been muted and was convinced that it would lead to some type of explosive blowback. At the very least I was worried I'd kick my tv in. So, in hopes of pre-empting a bloody leg, I ...

From the outside, Electronic Arts ' Los Angeles studio, just a few miles from LA's main airport, could be the offices of any number of blue chip IT firms. In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed. Visit BBC Webwise for full instructions. If you're reading via RSS, you'll need to visit the blog to access this content. Just one of the 16 developer studios it operates around the world, the building's anonymous grey and steel exterior speaks of hi-tech and analytical operations, not creativity and video games. We were given a tour of the studio by David Silverman, the exuberant marketing head of Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. And it's inside where the creativity and talent is to be found. Electronic Arts is an undoubted behemoth in the games industry. It employs more than 8,500 people worldwide, and last year its revenues were more than $3.5 billion. The firm makes games for more platforms than any other company, and has more than a quarter of a century of experience in the industry. The company also owns some of the biggest franchises in gaming, including The Sims, Harry Potter, Madden and Fifa. That success brings its own share of issues: the company in the past has been accused of churning out titles with a lack of innovation. The annual release schedule for the biggest franchises, with tweaks to graphics and gameplay, has seen plenty of critcism aimed EA's way. It is a publishing ...

Cary Silverman, who is forging a David vs. Goliath race against Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans, was called "a gun industry lobbyist" in a news release last week by Evans's campaign. The release attacked lawyer Silverman's comments at a debate between he and Evans, held at the Phillips Collection auditorium and sponsored by the Dupont Circle ANC and the Dupont Circle Citizens Association. At the debate when moderator Davis Kennedy asked about the city's strict gun laws and the Supreme Court ruling against a longtime handgun ban, Silverman replied that he supported businesses having guns, particularly if residents were allowed to have them. For protection, he said. Turns out Silverman's law firm, Shook Hardy and Bacon, represents gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson, not to mention other big interests, like pharmaceutical giant Merck and tobacco giant Philip Morris. Silverman said while his law firm represents those clients, he does not. ...

Looks like voters within the TV academy's acting branch are back showing diminished appreciation for comics as actors: Sarah Silverman ain't here (though she got the consolation prize of a nod for her guest spot on "Monk"), and neither is past nominee Larry David, whose "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is nonetheless nominated for best comedy series. Not only is there lots of great Emmy news in the Top 10 lists for best comedy and drama series — "The Wire," " Mad Men ," " Damages ," and "Family Guy" — but, as of this counting, cable stars have nabbed 18 of the 40 slots for lead actor and actress in a comedy and drama series. That's up from 11 last year. We still need to fill in two slots for lead comedy actor (it used to be three, but we just learned that "Til Death's" Brad Garrett is in), but so far we already have 38 of the 40 entries in those top acting lineups. So we're nearly done with our snooping. Looks like cable TV has made historic inroads and the TV academy must be cheered for the increasing presence of excellent cable fare in a traditionally broadcast-heavy contest. As Lisa de Moreas points out in her Washington Post column today (CLICK HERE): "Last year only three of the 10 contenders for a nomination in the drama-series lead actress competition came from cable. This year only three are actresses in broadcast TV series." Among the most notable entries in the acting Top 10s are three nice surprises certain to make TV critics cheer: Sarah Silverman of Comedy Central's "The Sarah Silverman Program," Bryan Cranston of AMC's "Breaking Bad" and Mary McDonnell of SciFi's " Battlestar Galactica ." Plus there are the new cable contenders we expected and are happy to behold: Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss (" Mad Men "), Glenn Close (" Damages "), David Duchovny ("Californicati ...

We were invited to Super Nova A-Go-Go at Comic Con, where beautiful women did a show as Sci-Fi characters. Which was basically a burlesque/nerdy Halloween hybrid. The show was funny, weird and very entertaining. Spotted in the crowd were David Silverman , director of The Simpsons Movie and Monster's Inc , Carr D'Angelo owner of Earth II comic book store, winner of last year's Eisner Award and Dave Avallone who told us he just got back from doing a movie with Heather Graham in Florida. Super Nova A-Go-Go was a production of Victory Variety Hour and Penny Starr Jr. She has a show Club Schmutzig this Thursday night in Silver Lake at El Cid. This week, we proved scientificologically that this fall's war-themed, apocalypse-filled awards-bait movies will, against all odds, be even bleaker than last year's . What's more depressing than that? The following things: • David Cook's chances of selling any albums . • The imminent flood of shoddily manufactured, unlicensed Mickey Mouse merchandise . • The fact that Hollywood hasn't yet found a way to utilize the talents of Anna Farris and the cast of The Office . • Young Jeezy's gold-medal prospects . • John McCain's impending victory . • That we, unlike Soulja Boy, do not have a Segway scooter to drive around our living room. • The Jonaspocalypse , the Apatocalypse , and the Hitlerpocalypse . • YouTube's unfortunate decision to take down the video of Tom Cruise's cameo in Tropic Thunder . That post was getting us a lot of traffic! • The idea of a Veronica Mars movie . • Benjamin Button 's five-hour running time . • The fact there is no Olympic gold medal for being Ben Silverman . ...

Well, now that our boss has finally seen The Dark Knight , we'd assumed that no one was left on planet Earth who has not yet bought a ticket for the most important movie of 2008, the movie that will save America's economy while also teaching our businessmen how to lead . But we were wrong! It turns out that none of this week's Vulture newsmakers have yet seen The Dark Knight . Come on, people! It's August ! It's not like there's anything else out ! What are their foolish excuses? Richard Griffiths: Movie theaters require shirts for admission. David Archuleta: Too busy drinking David Cook's milkshake. Kenny Chesney: Wants to wait for the movie to run in a theater powered by seal oil. Michael Cera: Scoring. Michael Madsen: Can't leave the phone in case Quentin calls. Mike Myers: Too busy writing the scene where Austin Powers's genitals are covered with something funny. A cucumber? David Carr: Already redeemed the memoir, now busy redeeming the human race. Ben Silverman: Filing for unemployment. Quentin Tarantino: Apparently attending the Swing Vote premiere. Isaac Asimov: Dead, and soon to be rolling in grave. Estelle Parsons: Upside down. R. Kelly: Recording another album this week. Snoop Dogg: Learning Tuvan throat-singing. Terry Gilliam: Tilting at windmills. Woodward and Bernstein: In hiding. George W. EW's Whitney Pastorek wasn't the only Comic-Con-by-way-of-Los-Angeles attendee stuck in traffic due to a fiery 18-wheeler turnover on the 405 the morning, but so was NBC's new 'King': Ian McShane. The fictional ruler (Ben Silverman still has his gig) missed the panel for Kings, a modern re-imagining of the classic story of David and Goliath. In a Q+A that followed a 20-minute featurette shown to several hundred fans, creator Michael Green pulled out a piece of paper and read a (faux?) note from former Deadwood star McShane: "If those goddamn c---suckers don't get off the road, I'll slit their goddamn throats..." (Big laughs from crowd.) Luckily, McShane's character in Kings is a bit more composed. Heroes' Greg Grunberg moderated the panel, which also included director Francis Lawrence, Erwin Stoff, and stars Chris Egan, Susanna Thompson (pictured), Sebastian Stan (pictured) and Allison Miller. Among the details revealed: Lawrence only had a budget of around 11k to make the pilot (which was shot and takes place in New York City); Lawrence and Stoff had been working on a classic D+G film at Universal; Kings is the first pilot script Lawrence has ever read at the request of Stoff; and working with McShane, according to Egan, is like working with "a puppy." The featurette and cast were well received by the audience, who later asked intelligent questions, including one about the religious undertone of the series. "For me, it's a Heroe ...
