Reviews of Kick-Ass are steadily coming through the internet and many of them say how good Nic Cage is as Big Daddy. That character is the father of Chloe Moretz’s Hit Girl. In the film Cage based his performance on Adam West’s delivery from the old Batman TV series – initially jarring, but works well. That got me thinking. Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns is one of the all time classic graphic novels. It has an older Bruce Wayne putting the cowl back on to clean up an messed up Gotham. Robin is a girl this time and a similar dynamic to the Kick-Ass set up. Plus Batman ends up beating the crap out of Superman who is a stooge for the CIA. Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan has spoken out about the future of the Batman franchise, where he intends to take it, and its relationship to the Superman movie he is now shepherding. Quotes below… “We have a great ensemble, that’s one of the attractions of doing another film, since we’ve been having a great time for years,” he told the LA Times. “Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story,” the film-maker added. “And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story.” “I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters,” Nolan said. “My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it harkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. Batman #700 is coming this June, and we knew DC would do something big for the cover of that milestone issue. Given that he's been putting together all of their most premiere covers lately, it's unsurprising that they announced David Finch would be illustrating that cover. It is perhaps a bit surprising how damn awesome it is, giving us a Batman that is steeped in all of the things that define him: darkness, mystery and Gotham City. Supernan- painted by Alex Ross (DC Comics) On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times blog, Hero Complex , posted an article by Geoff Boucher that will probably be quoted and referenced for months. In the piece, Boucher interviews director, Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, 2008), about  Batman 3 and his involvement in the Superman reboot. The article is also a concise but thorough history of Superman on film, including some great quotes by Nolan about his admiration for Superman: The Movie (1978). Boucher's article is required reading for anyone interested in the superhero genre, so I won't regurgitate the entire piece here. However, there were a couple of statements by Nolan that I found especially interesting. They revolve around his vision of how Batman and Superman should be presented on the screen. Of the new Superman movie and a possible tie-in with Batman, Nolan says: A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do. Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other. Myself and my friend Ken decided to acquire BOTB member KBillan's belt molds a month or so back. This was Keith's V2.1 belt that he beautifully CNCed and engineered to link like a wrist watch. Really was THE ultimate in fan made Begins/TDK belts. No disrespect meant to Keith but we had some changes we desired in the belt and Ken went right to work to make some improvements. He has some incredible skills as you'll see. Some changes that have been made thus far: -CNC tooling marks removed -slight texture to mimic a powder coated surface -scratch built accessories built to the proper scale of this belt -more snug fit for the inside dial I will let the pictures speak for themselves. The new molds are PRISTINE and the casts come out pretty much like you see in the pics. Very little to no clean-up. I will update this thread as we progress. And we will start an interest thread in the trading area at some point soon. ...
