... every Saturday evening whilst the series lasts. Some watch the talent show because they want to have a laugh at the awful auditions, some watch because they want to see new performers do well. Personally I feel uncomfortable watching some of the really awful auditions. I hate it when the panel (Simon Cowell, Danni Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole) laugh inanely at the efforts of others. I don't find singers trying their hardest to impress funny, just sad when they clearly can't sing. Neither can I, but like those poor singers I wish that I could sing. Ifeel for Danni Minogue, I really do. Last year, when she started on The X Factor, the only visual competition she had on a judging panel disastrously short on beauty was that mad old trout Sharon Osbourne. In other words, she reigned supreme -- a sight for sore eyes for otherwise jaded viewers. This year, though, her cosy monopoly has been busted wide open. Long gone is the Osbourne woman, replaced by the extremely pretty Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole, who to make matters worse has been sat right beside Minogue. Apparently Melanie 'Scary Spice' Brown was also approached to fill the judging vacancy, which would have been much more manageable. GIRL'S Aloud star, Cheryl Cole has been a huge hit with audiences in her first outing as an X Factor judge. And her down-to-earth manner and emotional honesty has even won over show mogul, Simon Cowell. It's thought Simon has offered Cheryl a bumper pay rise, reportedly £1million to sign up for next year's series. He wants to tie Cheryl into the deal in case any Girl's Aloud tour clashes with the show's filming dates. But the news, if accurate, must wrankle with former judge Sharon Osbourne who fought for a £500,000 pay increase for the current series before quitting. And Cheryl's reappearance next year might not please fellow judge Danni Minogue either. Whether tensions between the two singers are actually fraught or whether the friction is simply publicity fiction is not known. But rumours of feuding are rife and there is heavy speculation Danni is not happy with the amount of attention Cheryl has been getting. GIRLS Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has told how her marriage to footballer Ashley Cole is back on track following reports in the press of his alleged infidelity. Cheryl, speaking on the Jonathan Ross show to be aired tomorrow night on BBC1, also showed off her huge sparkling diamond wedding ring, saying: "I was tempted to put it back on his head". The star, who is also a judge on this year's ITV hit X Factor, has been conspicuously without her ring the last few months amid speculation about her relationship. The problems began in January when tabloids printed stories alleging Ashley had been unfaithful to his wife of two years. Speaking about press interest in her personal life Cheryl said: "There's no such thing as a private life in this industry. "I spoke openly about my marriage in the past and it's come back to hit me in the face. I learnt from the past that you shouldn't do that." She added people needed to realise celebrities were 'human' too and didn't have perfect lives. She also denied rumours of a rift with fellow X Factor judge, Danni Minogue, saying: "We just didn't talk about it, it's all water under the bridge, we're both grown women. There's more arguing going on with Simon and Louis." ...
