DUBAI: Al-Qaeda has released a video featuring a senior commander who was rumoured to have been killed in Pakistan in July, threatening more attacks after a suicide bombing on the Danish Embassy in Islamabad, according to the SITE group that monitors Islamist websites. "We have warned previously -- and we warn once more -- the Crusader states which insult, mock and defame our Prophet and Koran in their media and occupy our lands, steal our treasure and kill our brothers that we will exact revenge at the appropriate time and place," Mustafa Abu al-Yazid said in the video, SITE reported on Thursday. The June Embassy bombing killed six Pakistanis and came amid anger in the Muslim world over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed first printed in Danish newspapers in 2005. There were reports that Yazid was killed in a July air strike on a hideout in a tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, but the identity of the slain militant was never confirmed. Yazid, an Egyptian Al-Qaeda commander based in Afghanistan, was identified by the 9/11 Commission as the group''s chief financial manager. ... Source: www.geo.tv --- 20 days ago
ISLAMABAD: A Danish intelligence agent has been missing after Saturday''s devastating suicide bomb attack on the Marriott hotel in Pakistan''s capital Islamabad, Denmark''s foreign minister said Sunday. "We are talking about a member of the intelligence services stationed at the Embassy in Islamabad, with no sign of life," Per Stig Moeller told media. "What we have heard is that a Dane likely figures among the dead. If that proves to be the case, it would be profoundly tragic," he added, because he had been sent to Pakistan to improve security for Danish staff there. The Danish intelligence agency said in a separate statement that one of its agents, a security advisor, had been posted missing, presumed dead while a second PET official was unhurt, it said. Earlier, the foreign ministry''s head of diplomacy Klavs Holm told media that teams were scouring the city''s hospitals and other places looking for the missing national. "Several other Danes were in the hotel, they have been slightly hurt" in the explosion, Holm said, adding that these people, three in number, were all employed by the Danish Embassy in Islamabad. ...
