I have had AT&T DSL for a couple of days after switching over from cable, and have been having problems with browsing web pages or using other things such as a ventrilo voip client. I am not losing DSL connection, but somehow have problems looking at web sites, and the only thing that seem to work at that point is Steam, which is a game client that I used to play online games. I can ping servers through that still, but nothing else seems to work. The only thing that fixes it is to restart the modem. I have spent at least 6 or 7 hours trying to resolve this issue myself by trying to determine if my router had something to do with this, or maybe the NIC card. I have swapped both the router and the NIC card which leaves me thinking this has to be the modem. The only thing I haven't been able to change is the vonage phone device that is hooked up to the modem, and from there to the router. I wanted to know if it's possible that this vonage device might be influencing the modem at all, or if this is something else that needs to be fixed or reset by AT&T and has nothing to do with my hardware. I am using a Linkys wrt54g wireless router, linksys LN100TX NIC card, and my modem is a motorola 2210-02. I have the Elite DSL 3.0 package at my residence. ...

I read somewhere that we can keep a phone line open at our VR but cancel the phone number. How do I do that without canceling the phone line part that we need for our Hi Speed Internet and the Dish Satellite TVs When I call Verzion I want to make sure that the DSL and TVs will still be working. What exactly do I ask them to cancel and what to I want them to leave on? Thanks ...

In the attached picture, I have highlighted things I saw today on the Verizon website. 6 months worth of FREE DSL and the dry-loop now costs just as much as with the phone now? I'm wondering why this suddenly happened, but that's a good deal in my opinion! Just wanted to see who noticed this at all. ...

I've been a continuous BellSouth customer for 20 years, and DSL customer since they first offered it here 7 or 8 years ago, perhaps more (it's hard to remember). I got home last night to discover both my phone and internet Service were not working. I called AT&T at the only phone number I could find using my cell phone's web browser, and after being shunted two or three times, eventually got a customer Service rep who said my Service had been ordered transfered to somewhere in Lithonia (another part of the Atlanta metro area). So after she satisfied herself that I was who I said I was, she apologized profusely and promised everything would be back in order by tonight. No changes, no charges, so sorry, and yes, they were going to look into how the mixup happened and let me know, in case my online account was compromised or something. I got home today and the phone was working, but not the DSL. I tried calling AT&T, got bounced around by their automated system which constantly wanted to send me to billing or new orders no matter WHAT I said. Eventually I got gave up and talked to a billing department person, who then shunted me to someone else who could help me, who then shunted me to what she said were the technical people who could help me. After a full 34-minute wait after the last shunting, eventually I talked to a person that seemed to know what they were doing. They told me my DSL order was scheduled for completion SIX DAYS from n ...

Hello; I hope someone can help me. I have always had AT&T DSL Service bundled with my phone line. Last month, I had my number pulled (going with VOIP) so AT&T had to give me a new number for DSL Service only. Ever since then, my DSL Service drops anywhere from every few minutes to every few hours. The AT&T tech has been out numerous times. They have changed my modem twice (my modem worked fine before they started the new Service), they have changed the jack inside my house, at my expense (the jack worked fine before the new Service). Currently, I have a Netopia 3347 modem/router. I have tried two 2wire modems as well. My knowledge of this is minimum; any help would be greatly appreciated as I think the techs have done all that they know how to do. ...

I have been having problems more and more lately with my Embarq DSL. For the most part is seems to have gone downhill ever since they dropped Earthlink. I am not saying I never had a problem before that, but the problems seems to have intensified exponentially as of late, gradually from about 6 months ago to more recently. I am in Sussex County, NW New Jersey. To give some idea: Constant (random) slowdowns. Modem restarts (by itself?), sometimes every couple of minutes, or I can go a day or two before I see a problem... in fact, my connection dropped four seperate times while I was trying to create this topic just to post in this forum. Sometimes I manually restart the modem to try to correct the connection problem and I still have no luck. I have gotten a new modem from Embarq (the EQ-660R ASDL) and I am still having these problems. Now, I must add, these problems are not just limited to my household. I have noticed this more and more at my place of business where I work as well, and several employees who work out of there have come to me lately also mentioning problems they are having with their DSL at home (since I was the one who recommended Sprint/Earthlink before they became Embarq) These are all in the Sussex County area of NJ. What I am asking at this point, is this a trend? Are things going downhill with Embarq's DSL in this area? Is this happening to other people as well? I remember when Embarq was dropping Earthlink, I coul ...

(Posted in ATT Direct forum with account info) First, I hope one of the ATT techs who post around here can help me out as I'm very frustrated and disatisfied with the treatment I've received from ATT customer support. I've had ATT's Pro DSL package for about a two and a half years with no major problems. I bought a house and moved in last week. Before moving, I contacted ATT in order to have my DSL Service transferred. That was on 7/2/08. Customer Service reps said my package Service (phone and DSL) would be transferred to the new house at 12 a.m. Saturday (7/5/08.) Well, my DSL was disconnected from my old place at around 11:30 p.m. on 7/3/08. No big deal since I was told it would be active at my new house. Saturday came and went, as did Sunday and Monday. No DSL and no analog phone. I called ATT customer Service on 7/7/08 and discovered the work orders to transfer my DSL and phone hadn't been created. The rep offered to sell me the UVerse package but I declined, having already made arrangements to have my Dish Network moved to the new house. The rep apologized for the mix up and said she would put a rush on the phone and DSL transfer request. The rep said DSL would most likely not be active at my new house that day because the line was only configured for basic DSL and not the Pro package. She said it could take up to three days and should be active no later than Wednesday (7/9/08.) My phone started working later that day so my fait ...

Hello, Woohoo! After waiting 10 years for DSL Service at my location, it has finally become available and I just ordered it for "line turn on" on the 6th of August. I would appreciate help ordering a DSL modem that meets certain qualifications. Actually, I also have a networking question. I declined the $79.95 + $12.95 wireless modem that AT&T offered. It is probably the SpeedStream 5100 that they are shipping in my area. The wireless modems that AT&T ships -- I see them in other people's houses -- almost always have one ethernet port, a USB networking port, and of course the wireless broadcast. I would really like to step up a notch from that, to a DSL modem that is in fact a router with at least 3 ethernet jacks at that base. Can someone recommend for me a model number of router for that? I was given the registration URL to register my third party modem once I have purchased it. I really appreciate any and all help. Thanks! ...

We posted about the Primus Triple Value Bundle earlier this year when it was $59.95. Additionally, long distance calling to over 20 destinations outside of North America starting from 2 cents/minute is now featured. The new additions and $64.95 pricing don't appear to be available everywhere, but enter your postal code to check (in testing, it worked for postal codes from Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver at least). You helped me recently (http://forums.macnn.com/92/networking/367828/questions-about-setting-up-new-home/) when I was preparing to setup my new Verizon DSL Service. I've had the Service for about 5-6 weeks now and it works well most of the time, but there have been quite a few annoying intermittent outages. When the Service drops, the Internet light goes out; a few times it's turned red. Occasionally, the DSL light on the modem blinks, but even when it's solid (which is most of the time) the other two lights (internet and data, I think) blink most of the time. I got the Westell 6100F free from Verizon. A technician walked me through the setup. I chose not to use the supplied disc, but the online setup process made me download something from Verizon, which installed my Service. I have the modem connected to my AEBS' ethernet port. According to the Internet tab in my Airport Admin Utility, I connect "Using DHCP." FYI, I have a 3-phone set (wireless, 5.8GHz) in the house, using a Verizon-supplied line filter. Any thoughts? Any evidence here of problems with the ISP, wiring, equipment/modem, or setup? Thanks! ...
