Just over six months from its official start, the DataPortability Project has advanced the conversation about user data rights. The project's volunteers have worked together to create the DataPortability Reference Design to document the best practices for integrating existing open standards and protocols for maximum interoperability. There's been significant work done in the past year to help outline the issues in and around data portability, from open ID, to privacy, to ownership. We'd like to use our time to come at this from what users want as well as what the industry thinks is needed.
