House Republicans are again taking aim at Rep. Charlie Rangel, featuring a photo of him snoozing on a Dominican Republic beach in their latest anti-Democratic majority Web video and sending a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that demands he lost his Ways & Means Committee chairmanship. "Given Chairman Rangel's continuing ethical lapses, he cannot effectively carry out his duties as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee," Republican lawmakers, led by Minority Leader John Boehner, wrote in a letter to Pelosi today . "Thus, in order to remove one obstacle to this Democratic Congress actually addressing and solving working families' concerns, you, as the Speaker of the House, must insist that Rep. Rangel step down from his Ways and Means chairmanship pending an investigation of his ethical lapses." In the interest of clearing the air (and his name), the embattled Harlem Democrat has now requested that the House Ethics Committee investigate him on three different topics - his DR villa, his rent stabilized apartments and his fundraising for a CCNY center that bears his name. The Republicans have been trying to use Rangel as a liability for other Democratic candidates since the rent stabilization flap first started, calling on various congressional hopefuls to return his PAC contributions (so far, no one has, but the DNC did). The House Republicans also tried without success back in July to have Rangel censured . At the time, 25 G ...

The McCain-Palin campaign is taking aim at Gov. David Paterson for his suggestion this morning that Republicans are making a "racist appeal" in their denegration of Barack Obama's days as a community organizer. "I think that there are overtones of potential racial coding in the campaign," Paterson said during the Crain's Business Forum breakfast. "...I think the Republican party is too smart to call Barack Obama 'black' in a sense that it would be a negative. But you can take something about his life - which I noticed they did at the Republican convention -- a 'community organizer.' They kept saying it, they kept laughing, like what does this mean? It means that an individual who could have gone to Wall Street and made a lot of money and then run for office because he could buy media time chose to go back and work in programs in a neighborhood where he thought he could make a difference and became an elected official based on his involvement right in his own community." McCain-Palin spokesman Peter Feldman fired back, calling Paterson's comments "disappointing" and accusing him of following Barack Obama's lead in "playing the race card" (an accusation initially levied at Obama by McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis). "This is a tactic that the Obama Campaign has used before, and which McCain Campaign manager Rick Davis correctly called ‘divisive, shameful, and wrong,'" Feldman said. "Governor Palin’s remarks about Barack Obama’s ...

I've calibrated the settings of the application and my Wacom tablet, but the thing is that on the canvas it doesn't show the brush or pixel or crosshair symbol but a circle with a line that runs through the center and has the tilt that i have on the pen. I have tried changing it through the brush settings but it always remains the same. Anyone knows how can I fix this? ...

Delaware has been nearly synonymous with corporate law for more than a century. Nearly two thirds of the country's Fortune 500 companies are incorporated there and over half of U.S. companies traded on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq call Delaware their legal home. The federal financial bailout contained a small inroad on the national dominance by Delaware law and courts on corporate governance issues, but that state and its courts soon may see larger federal vehicles barreling toward them because of the economic crisis. ...

Research 2000 for Daily Kos. 9/30-10/1. Likely voters. MoE 5% (No trend lines) Schmidt (R) 46 Wulsin (D) 39 This district is a sort of personal obsession of mine. Remember, this race was the coming-out party for the netroots when in 2005, ignored by the political and media establishments, we propelled Iraq War Vet Paul Hackett to within inches of winning this seat. This was a key case study in the then-controversial book Crashing the Gate -- the notion that Democrats could compete in any district not by running as Republican lite, but by running as real Democrats. And Hackett was a real Democrat. This was a district Bush had won 64-36 in 2004. DC Democrats didn't just ignore it as a lost cause, but rolled their eyes at his anti-war position, one held long before it was fashionable to be anti-war. And you could almost hear them groan when Hackett answered a question about gay marriage as such: Gay marriage—who the hell cares?  If you're gay you're gay—more power to you. What you want is to be treated fairly by the law and any American who doesn't think that should be the case is, frankly, un-American. Yet by the last week of the race, it was clear we had a real dogfight and the national parties engaged. The NRCC ended up dumping over a million dollars in attack ads to rescue a seat that should've been an easy hold. And when Hackett ended up losing by just slightly over three percent, us netrooters were vindicated -- a real-world e ...

Anyone who is a traditional thinking American knows that organizations like the ACLU, National Education Association (endorses Obama by the way), GLSEN, and others have been advocating for the restriction of parental rights for a long time. The homosexual agenda is blazing hot right now and has these wealthy organizations backing their cause. These organizations often oppose school choice because they know that private schools offer freedom from homosexual indoctrination within the school system. They vehemently oppose home school because that eradicates their anti-creationist viewpoint. It also gives the child a chance at learning in a family environment which is something else that these organization oppose - the traditional family. ...
