Intel plans to release a dual-core Atom processor in September, part of a motherboard package that's designed for low-cost desktops, the company said at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco. Intel has long been expected to release a dual-core Atom chip, which should give a performance boost to desktop computers that use the chip. Currently, Intel only offers single-core versions of the Atom. [ Stay ahead of advances in hardware technology with InfoWorld's Ahead of the Curve blog and newsletter . ] The D945GCLF2 motherboard will include the Atom 330 processor, Intel said, without offering details of the chip, such as clock speed. When released, the official name is likely to be Atom N330, based on the company's product name conventions. The new motherboard is a Mini-ITX board and, like other Atom-based, systems offers limited features relative to boards used with Intel's mainstream chips. For example, the board has a single memory socket that can support up to 2GB of DDR2 (double data rate 2) memory. Most motherboards have two such slots. Other features include Intel's 945GC Express chipset, with integrated graphics, and a single PCI expansion slot. Pricing for the board was not disclosed. Intel billed the D945GCLF2 as the second generation of its Atom desktop boards. This just in from TweakTown: At the 2008 Computex event, Intel officially took the curtains off its 4 series PCI Express chipset range which is set to replace the original 3 series of chipsets. Intel’s 4 series not only brings Crossfire support to the mainstream, thanks to its ability to run two PCI Express x8 slots for GPUs, but it also adds PCI Express 2.0 to all of its 4 series of chipsets. That’s right, even the low-end of the 4 series gets a new PCI Express controller hub. [撰文：icebin] Albatron在今年的 Computex 上有展示這款原型機，現在最終版本終於塵埃落定，原本叫做「mini tablet PC」正式更名叫「Tee PC」或「Tee PC Rocke」（盒子上是印Tee PC Rocke，不過Tee PC乍聽之下還真像 Eee PC ...）。 Tee PC反潮流而行，配置了400MHz 的ARM926處理器、7吋800 x 480觸控螢幕、128MB的RAM、128MB快閃記憶體、可供擴充的SD卡插槽，內建WiFi和藍牙，最屌的是配上Windows CE 6.0作業系統。Tee PC看來「準備問世」了，可惜我們還不知道它的售價和上市日期。除非它衝擊了部份平板和輕省筆電的市場，它應該不會造成太大影響。 ...
這支斷頭泰迪熊在 Computex 2008 就已經出現過了。如果不說它是隨身碟，會以為是一隻可愛泰迪熊娃娃，如果是泰迪熊的粉絲，這支隨身碟可以列入收藏的對象，雖然使用的方法有點血腥，必須要摘掉熊頭，但是與電腦連結的樣子還是有種說不出的可愛。 這支隨身碟要價美金47元，折合台幣約540，且容量只有提供1GB，若當它為擺飾而不當隨身碟，價格倒還算可以接受囉。 ...
Filed under: Laptops While MSI's 8.9-inch Wind U90 first made an appearance in June at Computex , it took MSI this long to flesh out all details -- which is actually a relief, given the ridiculous quantity of Eee PC SKUs ASUS has managed to pump out in the meantime. We just got to handle the new laptop, and we think MSI might have a winner here. The laptop is shipping with SUSE Linux exclusively to start, with an XP version in the works, and boots quite rapidly to the full OS. SUSE has never looked better, and we think these two might be quite the pair. MSI has kept the full keyboard of the 10-inch Wind, and merely bumped up the bezel while cutting the price; all the other specs are the same. MSI is planning on shipping this at the end of September or beginning of October for 339 Euro (no word on a US release), and is also working on a six cell battery to fix the paltry 2 hours of battery the Wind currently gets from the three cell.
