"No Future for You" brings the rogue slayer Faith into Buffy season eight. What do you do when there’s a job to do that you don’t want your “golden-girl” to get dirty doing? Star Wars: Legacy is a Comic book series set over 130 years after the events of Return of The Jedi. In June 2006 Dark Horse Comics launched a new Star Wars series entitled Star Wars: Legacy. Set 137 years after the Battle of Yavin, (a.k.a. The galaxy... ...

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the Comic adaptation of one of this summer's biggest blockbusters. Comic adaptations of movies are hit or miss; there are many factors which can ruin the Comic. Bad artists, limited access to the film, (many adaptations are done months before filming is done, and writers & artists only have some stills and a copy of the script), scenes that have been cut since they didn’t work are the main reasons.... ...

The newest Radical Comics mini-series takes us on a futuristic race aross a dystopian wasteland. In the future of Radical Comics' newest five-issue mini-series, Freedom Formula, the world's war-mongering governments have been overthrown by the people in a "global civil movement," leaving a self-described capitalist utopia ("Free enterprise for a free world!" two revisionist talking heads tell us) where the big... ...

So I officially entered the wonderful world of fatherhood and it's all sorts of awesome. Every cry, every feeding, every moment is just wonderful. Now this night owl has a partner in crime — one with a penchant for diapers and burp cloths. And if I ever run low on either I can always use the pages of "Uncanny X-Men" No. 500 "drawn" by Greg Land . Hit the jump for why Land makes this milestone issue such a letdown. — Ren&eacute A. Guzman First off, I used to love "Uncanny X-Men" back in the days of Paul Smith , John Romita Jr. and Jim Lee . And I've long said Professor X helped boost my vocabulary, which is as much a nod to the "Uncanny" writing as to the "Uncanny" art. I just had to pick up "Uncanny" No. 500 because I thought it might take me back to the good old days. Besides, you can't go wrong with talented writers like Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction driving the bus. Turns out Land took me back instead — to middle school when I tried to draw a Marvel/DC crossover Comic using poses from other Comic books. I think I managed all of three pages before a buddy of mine and I bailed on the idea. I can honestly say it was something a seventh-grader with no confidence in his drawing skills or lack thereof would do. If only I had actually tried drawing from my own imagination instead of taking such blatant shortcuts. Which brings me to Greg Land. Land is known (make that notorious) for photo referencing. Look, it's not unusual for artists to us ...

Believe it or not, I was this close to dropping "Amazing Spider-Man" from my pull list. Yes, me the Spider-Slut. Monthly crap is one thing — crap three times a month just feels like getting beaten with your own sneaker. Then I picked up "Amazing" No. 568 and felt something I hadn't felt in so long: sheer satisfaction. "New Ways to Die" yanks what had become a floundering book right out of its uninspired triteness with a much-needed dose of great art by the mighty John Romita Jr. and an engaging story by the amusing Dan Slott that fuses the new Spidey status quo with the web-slinger's classicism in a most delightful, daresay merry Marvel manner. And it's about damn time. Hit the jump for why the latest "Amazing Spider-Man" finally lives up to its title. — Ren&eacute A. Guzman Ever since Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada deemed Spidey broken in need of fixing with the controversial, glorified cop-out that was "One More Day," I've tried to see the web half-full with "Brand New Day." And at first the new "Amazing" actually looked like it was on to something. The first "Brand New Day" arc by Slott and Steve McNiven offered some humor that had been missing for so long (Spidey giving JJJ mouth-to-mouth!), an interesting villain (Mr. Negative) and strong art for the franchise hero (that McNiven sure draws purty pictures). Then the title quickly slumped into insipid Howard Mackie territory with empty plots and even emptier threats like Freak, ...

Now, I’m not going to say that Neozoic will read better in the trade, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed reading these three issues back to back to back. Reading them all at one time really helped me to keep sense of who everyone was and what they were doing. I missed the first issue, but caught on with the second, and now with these three issues, I have to admit that this is a really good series, with lot’s of action, and a crap ton of dinosaurs... ...
