The definition of the word idiot can be found in the dictionary (also, it does't feature a picture of Harry Lockhart).-from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang The Bat-signal is not a beeper.*- Batman Forever Apparently, he's my Huckleberry.- Tombstone This may be the only chance I have in my whole life...to have sex.- Real Genius Let them be low. We are getting *high*. We're not getting fucked down. We're getting fucked up.-from his delightful turn in Entourage There's the fucking door.- Heat (which was good because I needed to know where the door was) In the city there is always a reflection, in the woods always a sound.- Spartan , cool flick, check it out You've got to do it. If you don't, I'm dead.- Wonderland I can ride his tail any time.- Top Gun Good to know Val, good to know. Should Val ever read this (and it's not outside the realm of possibility WINK) let it be known that I think that Val Kilmer is just awesome even in the absolute worst DTV dreck. I mean even in an otherwise worthless flick (like Mindhunters ) or a literary adaptation that could've gone better (like Comanche Moon ) Kilmer is fascinating to watch. Here's to more kick-ass performances and hopefully better movies (how about an out and out comedy like Real Genius or Top Secret ?) *(I actually thought about this for a bit and I must respectfully disagree, the Bat-signal is specifically a beeper. A beeper for Batman.) ... Source: rachelgriffithsblog.blogspot.com --- 49 days ago

White Comanche , 1968, color (original title Comanche blanco). José Briz Méndez (dir.), Joseph Cotton, William Shatner (dual role), Rosanna Yanni. 1:33. Twin brothers, half-Comanche, half-white, shunned by both—except that one of them has convinced a bunch of Comanche that he’s their savior, takes too much peyote, and goes around slaughtering white devils. His twin (Johnny Moon), trying to live as a white, keeps getting in trouble (e.g., nearly hanged) because you can only distinguish him from White Comanche (Notah) by the color of their eyes. Not that Johnny’s not pretty good at killing people also—he’s a crack shot, and this isn’t one of those westerns where everything’s settled with fistfights—but he always seems to have a reason. Johnny tells Notah that this must be settled and to come to Rio Honda within four days. During that period, there’s a range war in Rio Honda between two factions, with Johnny helping the sheriff maintain some semblance of order. Eventually, of course, the showdown happens; in the meantime, there’s much thoughtful standing around and an odd love subplot (involving a woman who first thinks Johnny is the evil half-Comanche who raped her, but eventually sees the eye-color difference and falls for him). Good color, acceptable production values, a good job by Joseph Cotton as the sheriff—but, of course, the real selling point here is William Shatner playing an arrogant sexist tinhorn ruler who doesn’t happen to b ... Costumes from the CBS miniseries Comanche Moon, designed by Van Broughton Ramsey. Photo by Eric Richardson. When "The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design" opens tomorrow at the FIDM Museum, visitors will get the chance to take a peek at work that spans five decades of TV history. The show is co-presented with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and includes an emphasis on work nominated for the 2008 Primetime Emmys. Nominated costumes are featured from the miniseries "John Adams" and "Comanche Moon", as well as shows "Mad Men" and "Pushing Daisies." Founded in 1978, the FIDM Museum is located on the campus of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising , at 9th and Grand. It's a 10,000 square foot space, and hosts two or three exhibitions per year. This is the third year for the annual show honoring television costume design, and the third curated by Mary Rose, President of the Costume Designers Guild. Standing next to the displays for HBO's "John Adams" and CBS' "Comanche Moon" today during a media preview, Rose said that she feels the exhibit shows how the quality of television costuming has caught up with that of the movies. "It's not only film that does excellent period costume." She noted that the designers were able to do this even "with less budget, with less time, with more work for them, under worse conditions." Van Broughton Ramsey was the Costume Designer on "Comanche Moon," a prequel to the 1989 miniserie ... Source: georgethomas.blogspot.com --- 41 days ago
A very very good reason to watch White Comanche is that it features William Shatner in a double role . It gets even better when you find out that the man who made the howl "Khan!" a classic plays twins born of a white father and an Indian (read: the American kind) mother; hence, the title, O gentle reader. Thanks to the uneven distribution of genetic contributions from each parent, one's more American/White and the other's more Indian/Comanche. After exercising his chops playing evil alter egos of James Tiberius Kirk, Shatner found the perfect project to unleash one of his finest slices of smoked ham. Since it's Shatner playing both parts, the differences between them are subtle: the American twin is named Johnny Moon and spends most of his time in the film fully-clothed, while the Comanche twin is named Notah (which means "Snake") and rides about topless with a foul mood and a mean streak. The acting, led by His Highness Ham Kirk himself, is lamentable and the dialogue is loaded with strings of surreal non sequiturs and flights of facetious fancy ( eat the peyote, drug of the devil – dream your dreams of hate! ). Joseph Cotten had notched up a formidable list of credits on B-schlock and foreign productions ( Syndicate Sadists showed up in the following decade) and shows up here as the Sheriff, spitting his lines with professional distance. A special note must be made of the background score that mixes Morricone and echoes of cues from ... Source: superlibrarian.wetpaint.com --- 93 days ago

Source: cmcdon.blogspot.com --- 77 days ago
So just in case any of you didn't know about my recent love affair with the West, here it is. I've been reading the Lonesome Dove novels, a series of 4 books ( Dead Man's Walk, Comanche Moon, Lonesome Dove, and Streets of Laredo ) that track the lives of two Texas Rangers in the late 1800s before much of the western territory was settled. There is a lot of shooting, scalping, roping, and riding. And I love it. No, they are not Western Romance novels. Larry McMurtry won a Pulitzer Prize for Lonesome Dove and if there was an award for making me fall in love with fictional characters I'd give that to him, too. I just found out from my oldest sister that the Lonesome Dove series were my Grandpa McDonald's favorite books. He died when I was about 5, so I don't remember much about him, but I remember giving him hugs ("loves") while he sat in his white chair in the basement. My dad tells me stories of how Grandpa used to sit in that chair and finish a whole book in one sitting, often reading through the night. He says that's where I get my love of reading. The fact that I came across these books on my own and love them like he did can't be a coincidence - my Grandpa must be up in Heaven thinking of all the books I still need to read. ... My week, in brief: -3 Pilates classes, 4 water aerobics classes, 2 kickboxing classes, 1 strength training class. -Greatest American Dog - was stupid. Didn't realize it was going to be the doggy version of... Kid Nation ... or something like that... -I know a loser who left his best friend's luggage in a hotel parking lot in Toledo and then video blogged begging his fans to volunteer to ship it back to GA (reimbursed, of course) when the hotel wouldn't comply with such a request. And someone in the area actually did it! -250 pages into Comanche Moon - finally. No more avoiding it. Last possible renewal before being forced to actually turn it in and check it out again in order to finish it. At least I've been sleeping this week. Larry McMurtry, it seems, knocks me right out. -Finally cleaned the turtle tank filters today. Burned out a light bulb, as usual... should know by now to turn the damn thing off before I move it... -Left my entire case of aerobics class cds at the gym tonight. Should be ok until I get there in the morning, but called and had front desk track it down and stow it safely away for me. -Met the other neighbors... 5 months after the fact. Don't know where the bald, tatoo-ed earring guy went. Don't know where the teenager(s) I might or might not have imagined went, but the "wife" is still there, and, apparently one of the residents that I could have sworn was a teenage boy is her partner... but they're both really nice, ...
