The supermodel, who won a place at Cambridge and was linked to Jude Law and ageing crooner Bryan Ferry all within a year, has surprised once again with a controversial shoot for Playboy magazine. “The Insider” caught up with Quincy Jones in Seattle, where a performing arts center has been named for him, and he commented on fellow music legend Natalie Cole, who was recently hospitalized due to a battle with the deadly liver condition Hepatitis C. “We are very concerned about her,” Quincy tells "The Insider." “She’s not doing well right now,” he goes on to say. Quincy thinks he might be able to help her if he can get through to her: “We had a doctor we met at a benefit the other night that says he has the new technology that could save her with Hepatitis C, so we’re trying desperately to reach her to get in touch with her because she’s in the hospital as we speak, with the dialysis and everything.” Natalie was hospitalized in mid September and a close family source told "The Insider," "She's had a setback and has gone into the hospital." “She’s in New York now,” Quincy says. “We’re trying to reach her and we can’t get through.” Quincy tells “The Insider” that his relationship with Natalie goes all the way back to her childhood, when he worked with her father, Nat King Cole: “I worked with her father in 1960, [with] my band in Europe and Natalie was seven years old then and she went to school with my daughter. Lefty Cole Hamels gets the ball for the Phillies today in game one against the Brewers. Hamels is a very good pitcher who has some interesting quirks about him so I wanted to do a little previewing in preparation for the first playoff game for the Crew in quite some time. First, let's look at Hamels movement chart. Like many lefties out there he only throws three pitches; four seam fastball, circle change, and a curveball. Here is a look at the movement he gets on these pitches. via baseball.bornbybits.com Starting with the fastball we can see just how over the top Hamels throws. He gets very large vertical movement and next to no horizontal movement. He does throw his fastball at about 91 MPH which is good for a lefty but this is definitely a show pitch. He doesn't want to challenge hitters with it he wants to show them the fastball to get them out with his off speed stuff or have them chase a fastball out of the zone. This usually is up out of the zone but he can bust this pitch in to right handed batters because of the small horizontal movement. Fastballs up in the zone have been a problem for several of our big bats this year (I'm looking at you Prince and JJ) so laying off the high fastball will be a big key. Hamels of course is known for his change-up and with PITCHf/x you can see why.
