I attended the Raw brand house show held at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY with a friend of mine. Both of us are long-time fans who know our stuff. The show featured an interactive element that I had not previously encountered at a WWE event. Throughout the night, Kelly Kelly made her way around the audience, asking trivia questions and picking kids to either serve as "guest manager" to a face or act as the bell ringer. In addition, Howard Finkel announced that fans would be able to choose the stipulation for the World Heavyweight Title match via text message. I will get back to this later... ... He should never be turned face, as he is such a natural heel. And because of his solid heel promo, C.M. Punk replied with one of his most solid comeback-promos yet. The fire in Punk's eyes showed that those two could possibly have a meaningful fued later on. So Raw borrowed ECW's guys for a battle royal? I never thought I'd say this, but I think WWE is using ECW to give Raw a rub. I am just not excited to see D-Lo back. I just can't get into his 1998 character, plus his rapid head movements give me motion sickness. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase aggressively taking their tag titles back was awesome. They looked like the really wanted them back and they elevated the feud much more by their actions... ... Source: pwtorch.com --- 3 days ago
Raw got off to a good start with a good opening segment, largely due to the great work by Randy Orton. Orton made a nice surprise return (for those who don't go to wwe.com) and did some nice mic work. His early statements about the current Raw Champions was right on, making Orton look like a babyface. It was good to see him swerve the fans who were cheering for him by turning his attention on CM Punk. His mic work was very strong, as was Punk's when he came out to confront Orton. The rest of the opening was good with John Bradshaw Layfield and Kane's solid mic work (the red lighting on Kane looked sick), and Batista's three spears. Luckily, Orton's night wasn’t through. I greatly enjoyed his backstage encounter with Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. It recalled a nice moment from the past when Orton slapped Dusty Rhodes. This was a very good moment and was followed by a second simpler but also effective moment later in the show. When DiBiase first debuted, there were some rumors that he would be part of some type of second generation faction. Could that still be in the works? ... Source: www.kentucky.com --- 14 days ago
Cody Ross hit the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning and finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, as Florida edged Arizona, 5-4, in the first of three games with the Diamondbacks. Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez last faced Arizona on September 6, 2006, when he threw the fourth no-hitter in Marlins history. Friday, though, he regressed from that lofty standard and took a no-decision after allowing four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. Arthur Rhodes (3-1) earned the win for completing the seventh inning in scoreless fashion, while Kevin Gregg tossed a perfect ninth for his 28th save of the season. Paul Lo Duca went 2-for-4 with a walk and one RBI for Florida, which snapped a two-game slide. Diamondbacks starter Randy Johnson was masterful in a seven-inning start, as he allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and three walks, while striking out a season-high 13. ... The Florida Marlins have put themselves into contention in the National League East partly because of their success against the Arizona Diamondbacks this season. The surprising young club aims for another much- needed victory over Arizona when the two teams get together again tonight at Chase Field. The Marlins rallied for a pair of eighth-inning runs to come through with a 5-4 decision over the Diamondbacks in Friday's opener of this three-game series. The win was Florida's sixth in seven 2008 meetings with Arizona and halted a four-game losing streak for Fredi Gonzalez's squad at Chase Field. Cody Ross snapped a 4-4 tie with a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning and finished 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Marlins, who had lost six times in an eight-game span prior to last night's tilt. Reliever Arthur Rhodes (1-0) earned the win by holding Arizona scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, while Kevin Gregg tossed a perfect ninth for his 28th save of the season. ... I’m a day late with my column, but I want to talk about Raw, John Cena’s injury, and Mike Adamle. I have to say that Monday’s Raw was quite an improvement from last week’s show. At least this week’s show made more sense, unlike last week when things were just thrown together. There was one match, that kind of pissed me off and I’ll start with that match. Other than that one segment everything else was good. Wow that’s nice to say for a change. So let me start with the negative, and then on to the rest of the show, Cena and Mr. No Personality Adamle. Just when I thought that Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes were getting ready to start up with Cryme Tyme. WWE pushed the clock back to a few weeks ago, and had these two guys face Jerry Lawler and Hacksaw Duggan ONCE AGAIN. Why? I kind of thought that we got the message a few months ago that this young tag team was anti “OLD” and at the time it worked fine. But why get that going again? It’s obvious that Cryme Tyme will be feuding with them, well the feud has started already, so I guess because there really is no tag team division on Raw this was all the creative team could come up with. I had absolutely no interest in watching this match, but there was a highlight for me during this segment and that was Cryme Tyme finally getting some mic work and antagonizing DiBiase and Rhodes. I thought Shad and JGT did a cool job on the mic and they made this segment passable. Oh and add the debut of Pri ... Source: www.moldova.org --- 14 days ago

One half of WWE's world tag team champions, Cody Rhodes, was still six years from being born on the night his old man captured his first world title by defeating NWA Heavyweight Champion Harley Race on August 21, 1979 in Tampa Florida - 29 years ago today. I couldn't find the actual match, but here's some footage of the American Dream celebrating in the locker room moments after winning the championship. The SuperBowl victory-like atmosphere is a sight to behold, and something that we unfortunately don't see that much of in pro wrestling these days. I enjoyed watching C.M. Punk's interview after his win, where he thanked his family and fans, but unfortunately, it was mostly a backdrop for an angle with JBL. WWE, and all wrestling promoters, would be wise to watch Rhodes' celebration closely. Nothing gets a championship over like having a wrestler make a hell of a big deal when he wins it. ... Man anyone been watching these two? I think they suck(no offense to anyone that does like them) I mean Cody is ok in the ring, Ted we haven't seen much of, accept poor mic skills, Same with Cody with mic skills. At first what i thought of Cody, was that he was brilliant, after watching him a while, when seeing him on the mic, i started thinking he will not be like Dusty in anyway in the future. Cody Rhodes just don't have the performance ability like his dad, and i really don't think he ever will Ted? His first promo wasn't to bad when he first came, then watching Night of the Champions, i thought damn you two suck, get more training.. Your thoughts on these two? ...
