Happy humpday friends, how are you and yours? Mine are doing quite well. As you might remember I have jazz class on Wed. so I'm writing from work where I can kill time between classes. There's not much to talk about today, as I'm still working 7 days a week on my super summer project for you guys and also a personal project. I did want to make mention of the monster in the Resistance: Fall of Man 2 game. The Leviathan should be very intimidating and of course comes quickly on the heels of Another giant monster destroying a city. Needless to say my interest is piqued a bit more. But there's nothing much rolling on the videogame front that has me very, very excited. Sadly the E3 used to be the one time of year that I looked forward to but now that the net breaks the news before the E3 does there's not much of a point to it all. I'd still much rather read the news and see the video online than on TV, that's for sure. G4 still insults its audience so I steer clear of that channel with the exception of Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Banzuke. The only thing that could really catch my attention now is if we see video or news from team Ico . Sure a God of War III announcement is expected but news of Ueda's next game would be even more welcome. What do you think about that? Since I'm in the lab I'm also using a speedy computer to finish up the Chun-Li and Ryu illustration. I only work on it a little bit every Wednesday and Friday. Thankfully I'm ...

Good morning friends. What are you up to today? I'm running errands today. Busy paying bills and fretting over money these days. But that's not all. The first pics of the alternate costumes featured in Street Fighter IV are out. The Chun-Li image turned up in Street Fighter IV Mobile Site the other day. Like Tekken, you should be able to "buy" new costume choices with the in-game money system. Guess you'll have to play tons of matches in order to unlock all the goodies. Fan reactions are mixed so far. Especially when you think about what Yoshinori Ono said about character customization. "The characters in this series are quite iconic, and everyone has a lot of respect for them... the idea of Ryu wearing a girl's sailor suit and a funny hat would kind of crush the SF memory we all know and love." One of the Shoryuken.com posters summed it up best by saying that it wasn't okay to give Ryu a funny hat, but okay for Blanka. Is there a double-standard here, is Mr. Ono not staying true to his word? What gives? The Chun-Li costume and variations of the "China Doll" dress have turned up before in concept art, official art as well as comic book art from Masahiko Nakahira. I'm certain if I dig around my Capcom art books I can find the explorer outfit they gave Blanka. I wonder now if all of the alternate costumes will be based on the Capcom legacy and all of its wonderful influences and not made up like the new characters. In other fighting game ...

If you've been passively following upcoming Hollywood flick Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li , you've probably already realized that Ryu and Ken are not characters in the film. Why is that? Hrm. According to the movie's producer Patrick Aiello, the filmmakers and Capcom decided to have this film focus on the origin of Chun-Li. Continuing, Aiello adds: There are just way too many characters in the Street Fighter universe to cram them all into one film. We want to do each one the justice he/she deserves. So, in short, Ken and Ryu will not be appearing in this film. But, that doesn’t mean we wont see our red and white-clad heroes in potential sequels... If this Chun-Li flick does decent business, just watch as Capcom goes sequel silly. (Not that it's ever done that in the past!) The film's producer does offer interesting insights on how they plan on adapting Street Fighter to the silver screen and stay true to the game's roots: Now, as a result of this approach, it’d be silly to put Neal McDonough’s Bison in a bright red suit and captain’s hat with a pair of humongous shoulder pads. It works great in the video game, but in real life, it just wouldn’t look intimidating. The same can be said for Balrog. He’s an enforcer. A killer. A take-no-shit brawler to the core. And so, how scary would he be on screen if he beat people up with boxing gloves and a pair of blue short-shorts? All that said, do not worry. We haven’t turned a blind ...

As we previously posted , the Japanese arcade version of Street Fighter IV will feature Taito's NESYS Card System to save and track data — plus a mobile phone site, too. During arcade play, players can win and save "Battle Points" on their NESYS Card. The Battle Points are weighted, so, for example, if you defeat a player with a high ranking, you'll get more Battle Points. Besides BP, players can also earn "zeny" when winning and then take that saved zeny to the SFIV cell phone "Zeny Shop" where players can purchase outfits and different coloured costumes like Chun-Li's new threads (pictured). What's more, players are able to receive a stamp at the mobile phone contents shop (one stamp a day), and those stamps can be traded for ringtones, ring voices and mobile phone pics at the "Stamp Shop". 春麗に待望の新コスチュームが!? Hardcore fandom aside, can we all agree that the Street Fighter movie is a thinly veiled excuse to stare at Chun Li–or at least her on-screen equivalent–for 90 minutes? When Kotaku first revealed that Capcom wanted to “do to video games what Marvel did to comics”, I have to admit I was disappointed. Overall, the Marvel movies sucked. The only good ones that come to mind are the first 2 X-Men and Iron Man. I mean, come on, all the Spider-Man’s were bad [...] ...
