Source: www.sacbee.com --- 1 day ago Republican U.S. Senate candidate ChuckDevore said he expects to be have a hard time being heard this primary amid the Republican gubernatorial primary ads that will hit the airwaves this spring. It's a complaint other candidates have made as gubernatorial rivals Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner prepare to fight an ultra-expensive primary battle. Devore said he would not depend on TV advertising in his race against Senate rivals Carly Fiorina and Tom Campbell . "What's the point?" Devore said at a news conference Saturday afternoon at the state Republicans' convention in Santa Clara. "If I'm competing against $50 million of TV advertising from Poizner and Whitman, let's assume that Carly Fiorina carves out $1.5 million, you want even notice her ads in between, what is it, fun Poizner fact #12, #32 and the inevitable counter attack." Devore also said he's a distant cousin of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown. "My mom remembers seeing him at a family gathering in the Bay Area when she was 12 and he was about 15 and she told me, 'He was weird even then,'" Devore said. ...
Source: flapsblog.com --- 2 days ago Joshua Trevino (L), Communications Director for U.S. Senate candidate ChuckDevore I remember last Fall, when Joshua Trevino, ChuckDevore’s spokeshole ravaged Carly Fiorina for not attending the California Republican Convention because she was finishing up her treatment for breast cancer. Remember? I saw this today on Twitter and really could not believe it. A spokesman and a paid one at that for California Republican Assemblyman and U.S. Senate candidate ChuckDevore , Joshua Trevino , mocking fellow Republican Carly Fiorina for not attending this past weekend’s California GOP Convention in Indian Wells. James Richardson has the FLAP. And, today is the start of the Spring California Republican Party convention in Santa Clara, California. Carly Fiorina will address a Saturday luncheon. But, where is spokeshole Trevino? Apparently, Trevino is not even in California but in Texas. I guess with his candidate ChuckDevore’s poor showing in the polls (7 per cent in the last one), there is no need for Devore have a campaign team in place at the GOP convention. So, has Trevino already given up on Chuck and trolling for a new gig at SWSX? Looks like it…… Josh why aren’t you in Santa Clara with your candidate? ...
Source: flapsblog.com --- 3 days ago 2010 California Senate Election: Republican Primary The latest poll (DailyKos.com/Research 2000) for the June California GOP primary election for United States Senate is out. Tom Campbell (R) 33 Carly Fiorina (R) 24 ChuckDevore (R) 7 General election Barbara Boxer (D) 47 Tom Campbell (R) 43 Barbara Boxer (D) 49 (52) Carly Fiorina (R) 40 (31) Barbara Boxer (D) 49 (53) ChuckDevore (R) 39 (29) Favorable/Unfavorable Boxer (D) 50/45 (49/43) Campbell (R) 46/37 (38/29) Fiorina (R) 35/43 (22/29) Devore (R) 34/42 (21/27) This is, after all, a Democrat and LEFT leaning poll but there are some obvious points: 1. Barbara Boxer remains vulnerable with less than 50 per cent against all Republican challengers 2. The Republican Primary election is really between Carly Fiorina and Tom Campbell. ChuckDevore trails badly as his campaign has not gained any traction in over a year of campaigning and has to be considered out fof the race even with a large undecided (36 per cent) undecided vote. Source: inlandutopia.com --- 3 days ago NEWS FROM BARBARA BOXER, UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM CALIFORNIA March 05, 2010 Dear Friend: I am pleased and proud to let you know that I am co-sponsoring new legislation to repeal the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. The Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2010 (S.3065) would repeal the discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and prohibit discrimination of service members on the basis of sexual orientation. I strongly believe in equal rights for all Americans, including the right to serve in the armed forces. To date, thousands of gay men and women have served in the United States military. Their service should be honored, welcomed, and respected. I look forward to ending this hurtful policy as soon as possible. We cannot afford to lose the service of dedicated and honorable military personnel, which is happening right now. Please know that I will continue my efforts to achieve full equality for all Americans both in military and civilian life. Sincerely, Barbara Boxer United States Senator Note: At least this is one issue I can proudly agree with Senator Boxer. ...
Source: delicious.com --- 4 days ago Devore likes to portray himself as a protector of taxpayers, yet he still gets paid his yearly salary of around $95,000--plus a car allowance, housing allowance and per diem of around $165 tax-free dollars a day when he is in Sacramento--as he campaigns for another office while ignoring his current constituents. As Holt put it, candidates like Devore "are on the peoples' clock when they are campaigning." The funny thing is, I'd imagine ol' Chuckie supports a part-time Legislature--at least once he's left it. ++++++++ Do as I say NOT as I do..... Typical career politician...... ...
Source: www.mydentalforum.com --- 4 days ago California Assemblyman and U.S. Senate candidate ChuckDevore at CPAC Well, ChuckDevore is “termed out” after all, so who cares about his Orange County constituents and California state issues, right? Last week, I wrote about teachers wearing blue, passing out flyers and protesting because the state budget crisis has resulted in dozens of teachers in Newport Mesa losing their jobs. I sent this message (via Facebook) to Assemblyman ChuckDevore, R-Irvine, who represents Corona del Mar: Chuck, Newport Mesa teachers are passing out flyers today to protest state cuts in education. The flyers allege that legislators negotiated in secret with lobbyists for $2 billion in tax breaks. Comment? Are you attending any protests? Here is his reply, which came two days later: No protests too busy campaigning across the state. He ignored a follow-up message, asking if he had any response or comment. Now, I do not single out Devore for blame on the budget mess, or the fact that my daughters class size is going to increase next year. And I do like the fact that hes available on Facebook, that I can send him notes and get an answer. Hes often very accessible and will answer questions and concerns. But I do wonder why he has the luxury of blowing off his current job (representing us) to pursue his next job (hes hoping to become a U.S. senator.) Can you imagine telling your boss, Sorry Im too busy interviewing for a cool new gig to get th ...

Source: erickbrockway.wordpress.com --- 6 days ago “Carly Fiorina had every advantage money could buy, and the conservative activists of the CRA decisively endorsed ChuckDevore on the first round.” In their 75 th Anniversary Celebration and Endorsing Convention held Friday March 5 to Sunday March 7, the California Republican Assembly voted to endorse ChuckDevore 68.6% (194 votes) to Carly Fiorina’s 31.4% (89). Tom Campbell? 0%. Guess his “conservative credentials” failed him. Via the OC Register ; Devore, an Assembly member from Irvine, trails former Hewlett-Packard CEO Fiorina and former congressman Campbell in polls, spoke first and won over many in the room with his strong record upholding conservative values, both fiscally and socially. “Is 2010 the year to beat Barbara Boxer?” Devore said, his voice booming through the microphone. “My bona fides, I believe, make me a powerful opponent.” Garden Grove resident Bert Ashland acknowledged that a conservative record would be important to secure the endorsement, though members should really be looking to “capture a significant ‘undecided’ or ‘did not declare’ vote in order to win in November. “Is ChuckDevore right? Is Carly the right candidate? They need to be able to draw in a significantly broader number of voters than is represented by the CRA,” he said. Fiorina said she’s spent a lot of time meeting with CRA members to convey her standpoint, which includes cutting government spending and securing the border against illegal immi ...
