While watching last night’s Impact, my initial reaction was to criticize TNA for using a plot device that it has done to death. But I can’t follow through, because I am legitimately interested to see how this one turns out. In the past, TNA devoted a lot of TV time and built pay-per-view shows around which side Tomko and A.J. Styles were on in the Kurt Angle-Christian Cage feud. It all seemed like such a waste of time and the booking became convoluted. Now, the question being posed is: Which side is Cage on? Is he with the big-name veterans or the young TNA stars? I’m a big fan of Cage as a performer, so anything that puts the focus on him is fine with me. This angle is compelling because, as Cage explained during an interview with Karen Angle last night, he has become a big star, yet he is not that far removed from being one of the young guys who was kept down by veterans. It’s also interesting how this story line about having to choose sides mirrors Cage’s current situation in real life. It’s no secret that his contract is expiring soon and that he will have to make a decision whether to re-sign with the upstart TNA or return to the established WWE. As far as the story line, while Cage might be better as a heel, I’m hoping he doesn’t turn again. Cage hasn’t even been with the company three years and he already has turned twice. Angle asked if Foley was there to take over for Don West because he was replaceable. Foley said he was not there to take over for West. West said, "Whew" and wiped his brow. Foley said he needed to be closer to the action. Angle asked if Foley was going to be in his corner. My sources tell me that the WWE will make a push to bring back Christian Cage . His contract expires soon. "He'd be at the top of my list (of TNA free agents)," said one WWE official. If he signs with WWE, expect for a reunion with Edge or for the two to feud against one another. I personally would love that, and if they rejoined as tag team cool, but if one was heel namely Edge , and the other face, namely Christian, than a match against one another would be great Edge is expected to make his return soon by the way. The fans greeted Jarrett with a "Welcome back" chant. Jarrett looked genuinely moved. Jarrett said he was going to say something he has never said before. He said when we first saw Jarrett in TNA, we were watching the wrestler and the founder of TNA. After the demise of WCW, he had a vision to give young hopefuls a chance to shine. He wanted TNA to be the place where those who deserved a big break received one. He thanked God, who received a small pop, his wife, a great financial partner, and each and every fan. Jarrett wanted to speak to Sting and wanted to do so face to face, man to man. Sting obliged and came out to the ring. Jarrett reminded Sting that Jerry Jarrett gave Sting his start in the business.
